A Season of Healing and Renewal in Uganda

From safari rest to trauma healing, the Lord is at work among His people

God is doing a beautiful work in Uganda! Recently, two partners from Rapid City, South Dakota joined us to lead a Trauma Healing Training for twenty-seven local leaders—including Hands of Love staff, pastors, and community members. Guided by Luke 10:1-9, this training gave participants space to process their own wounds, discover God’s comfort, and gain tools to help others find healing in Christ. Already, voices once silenced by pain are being restored, and hope is being multiplied across communities.

At the heart of this work are the Hands of Love staff—the faithful backbone of our ministry. Day after day, they pour into children who have faced unimaginable hardship and trauma, often carrying their own burdens quietly in the background. Their ministry is not glamorous, and their efforts are not always recognized, yet they are the ones on the front lines, walking with vulnerable children toward healing, hope, and the fullness of life God created them to live.

That’s why this training was so vital: equipping our staff not only strengthens them personally but also equips them to walk wisely and compassionately with the students in their care. When a child’s trauma is met with safe, Spirit-led guidance, it becomes a place where God’s restoration can take root.

Before the training began, our guests also blessed the staff with a time of refreshment—a safari trip to Murchison Falls National Park. It was a sacred pause for laughter, bonding, and rest, reminding each staff member how deeply they are valued. Refreshed and renewed, they returned ready to continue the work of guiding children toward wholeness in Christ.

We thank God for our staff—the steady, faithful backbone of Hands of Love—and for this season of equipping and refreshing.

As Psalm 147:3 reminds us:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

"Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

- Matthew 9:37-38
