Honoring Love in Action This February

February is the month of love, and at Fisher House Kansas City, love is shown every day through compassion, generosity, and service. We are deeply grateful for the donors whose generosity keeps our doors open, the volunteers who give their time and hearts so freely, and the dedicated VA staff and medical teams who care for our nation’s heroes with such commitment and respect.

Most importantly, we hold special appreciation for the veterans and military families who stay with us—your strength, resilience, and courage inspire everything we do. It is an honor to serve you and to walk alongside you during times of healing, hope, and recovery.

Groundhog Day is a lighthearted tradition reminding us that brighter days are ahead. Whether winter lingers or spring is around the corner, Fisher House Kansas City remains a constant source of comfort and support for military families as they navigate challenging seasons together.

Four Chaplains Day

This day honors the four U.S. Army chaplains who gave their lives aboard the USS Dorchester in 1943. We remember their selfless courage, unity, and faith in service to others.

February 14 (Week of)

National Salute to Veteran Patients & Valentine’s Day

A week to recognize hospitalized veterans and those receiving long-term medical care. We honor their service and reaffirm our commitment to supporting military families during times of healing. We also appreciate the staff at our local VA Medical Center, and wish them the best this Valentine’s Day.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day

This day celebrates the power of simple, thoughtful actions. From a warm meal to a place to rest, Fisher House Kansas City is built on everyday acts of kindness made possible by our donors, volunteers, and supporters who help military families feel cared for when they need it most.

Coast Guard Reserve Birthday

Established in 1941, the Coast Guard Reserve continues to serve with honor and dedication. We thank all reservists for their vital role in national security.

Washington’s Birthday & Presidents' Day

We honor the legacy of George Washington and all who have followed his example of leadership and service in the U.S. Armed Forces, and those who have served as Commander in Chief.

Community Support: A Lasting Difference

A big thank you to Patriot Express for sharing the love through a delicious homemade chili lunch during the holiday season for our families. Meals like this do more than warm bellies—they create moments of comfort, connection, and care for the veterans and loved ones staying at Fisher House Kansas City.

Speaking of the Boys in Blue, we are incredibly grateful to the Kansas City Royals for donating 500 Welcome Home Bags to Fisher House Kansas City and 500 to the Kansas City VA as part of their Season of Giving this past holiday season.
