As we approach the High Holidays — a sacred time for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to our values — Jewish Family Services of Greenwich (JFS) carries forward its mission with deep gratitude and unwavering purpose.
This year, our work has expanded beyond what we once thought possible — not only in the number of lives touched (almost 4,000 and growing), but in the geographic and programmatic reach of our impact. From expanding behavioral health services across Fairfield County to opening a new office in Norwich, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet needs wherever they arise. Our work in Norwich, in partnership with the Jewish Federation Association of Connecticut and the Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut (JFEC), addresses longstanding service gaps by providing legal, mental health, and case management support to a rapidly diversifying population.
We have walked alongside families facing food insecurity, offered trauma-informed therapy to youth in crisis, supported older adults navigating isolation, and welcomed newcomers seeking safety and belonging. Every act of care reflects the enduring Jewish values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and hachnassat orchim (welcoming the stranger).
As antisemitism remains an ever-present concern, JFS continues to innovate in how we care for and protect our community. Through our Rabbi-Scholar-in-Residence and expert clinicians, we’ve created space for Jewish parents and college students to navigate the anxiety stemming from microaggressions and more overt forms of antisemitism — with compassion, context, and strength.
This season reminds us that our strength lies in our shared responsibility to build a more just and compassionate world — one relationship, one service, one step at a time. We enter 5786 humbled by the trust placed in us and inspired by what we can build together.
From all of us at JFS of Greenwich, L’shana Tova — may the new year bring health, peace, and hope.
