As we step into a new year at Fisher House Kansas City, we do so with deep gratitude for the extraordinary community that surrounds and supports our mission. Every volunteer hour, every donated meal, every act of kindness, and every generous gift has helped us create a true “home away from home” for the families of our nation’s heroes. Because of you, we continue to offer comfort, stability, and hope during some of the most challenging moments a military or veteran family can face.

This year, we look forward to building upon that foundation of compassion and service. Together, we will welcome new families, strengthen partnerships, grow our volunteer programs, and continue enhancing the care and support that make Fisher House Kansas City such a special place. Thank you for standing with us, believing in our mission, and helping us ensure that no family faces a medical crisis alone. January 1

New Year's Day

• New Year’s Day marks a fresh start and a moment of reflection. We honor the strength, resilience, and hope of the military families we serve as we begin another year of supporting those who serve our nation.

January 8

Battle of New Orleans Anniversary

• Today commemorates the 1815 American victory in the War of 1812. We honor the bravery of those who defended our young nation and reflect on the sacrifices of service members throughout history.

January 16

Operation Desert Storm Anniversary

• Today marks the anniversary of the beginning of the 1991 Gulf War combat operation. We remember and honor all who served during this pivotal moment in modern military history.

January 20

Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Third Monday in January)

• A National Day of Service honoring Dr. King’s legacy of compassion, unity, and community impact. We recognize all who uplift others through kindness and service, including our incredible Fisher House KC supporters and volunteers.

January 25

Battle of the Bulge Anniversary

• Today recognizes the Allied victory in one of World War II’s most challenging battles. We honor the courage, perseverance, and sacrifice of the U.S. service members who fought in this historic campaign.

January 27

Vietnam War Cease-Fire Anniversary

• This date marks the anniversary of the 1973 agreement that ended U.S. involvement in Vietnam. We honor all who served, their families, and the many who continue to carry the memories and challenges of that conflict.

January 31

End of the Panama Campaign

• Today annually marks the conclusion of U.S. military operations in Panama in 1990. We remember and honor all who served during this operation and their dedication to duty.

2025: The Year in Review

Fisher House KC provided a home away from home for those in need again this year.

Here are some quick 2025 stats:

• Provided 1679 nights stay
• 694 new families served
• 231 volunteers with 764 total hours given

Additionally, some of our many donations included groceries, pantry items, gift bags, toiletry items, water cooler, game table, quilts, books and financial support.

Thank you to all who stayed, volunteered and provided for our house. We can’t do it without you.

The Game is Afoot

We extend our sincere thanks to the Daughters of the American Revolution for their generous donation of an electronic game table to Fisher House Kansas City. This thoughtful gift will bring joy, relaxation, and moments of connection to the families who call our house their home during difficult times.
