Get Ready for 2024, WRFI's 30th Season!
Join a Course, Attend a Party, or Help Us Meet Our Goals This Year
| |
Are you as shocked as we are that it's already 2024?? Well fret not: we have been planning for this for a while. As WRFI enters its 30th season as an experiential education nonprofit, we look forward not only to hosting a new class of students, but also reconnecting with many of our alumni. This year, be on the lookout for announcements about reunions happening in Missoula, and maybe even a city near you. We'll also be sure to keep you updated on our Campaign for WRFI, an ongoing fundraiser that is vital to our success. If you haven't joined us on a course yet, you still have time to join the fun in 2024! Follow the link below to fill out an initial, non-committing application and you'll hear from our office soon. We can't wait to adventure with you soon!
Thank You, Joe!
Our Student Experience Manager Moves On
| |
If you know Joe, you know he's done it all - from leading courses through the Colorado Plateau, to seeking out new WRFI students around the country as a recruiter, to lugging coolers for our Summer Explorations crew, to helping onboard new WRFI students for their courses, and much, much more. He's been an incredible asset to our team. We're sad to announce that he is moving on from his current role as Student Experience Manager, but we're just as excited to see him shine in his new role with Ecology Project International as their Yellowstone Program Manager!
We know many of you have benefited from Joe's kindness, his knowledge of the outdoors, and his stoke for adventure. If you have anything you'd like to share about your time with him, please let us know and we'll pass it along!
Joe - the WRFI office staff would like to extend our most sincere gratitude for all of the hard work and kindness you have exhibited in your time with us. You have left some big shoes to fill (and not just because you're over 6ft tall!). THANK YOU!

Welcome, Zoe!
WRFI Alum Joins Recruitment Team
| |
Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the WRFI team, Zoe Transtrum (Restoration Ecology, '21)! Zoe has started her role as our Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator, where she will focus on helping new WRFI students prepare for their time on course. She'll work directly with students from the day they express interest in WRFI to when they start their course and beyond! If that's you, you can expect to see this smiling face at your university or on your computer screen for a consultation soon. Welcome, Zoe!
From Zoe: "My experience on WRFI courses has shaped my career paths, the types of community I seek, and how I endeavor to show up in the world. WRFI courses were transformative to my personal growth and sparked a passion for experiential education, which empowered me to lead backpacking trips with youth post-graduation. The opportunity to connect my learning in the classroom to real-world experiences, develop deep relationships with my peers, and learn from local community members doing important conservation work inspired my professional aspirations, but more importantly cultivated values and intentionality behind my interactions with others and the natural world.
