MESSAGE FROM THE CEO, Kevin Drumheller,
September is always a special month at Richcroft. As summer winds down and we settle into a new season, it gives us a chance to pause and appreciate the people, partnerships, and experiences that make our organization - and the lives of the people we support - so meaningful.
This month, we celebrated Direct Support Professionals Week, and I want to take a moment to say something that cannot be said enough: thank you to our incredible DSPs!
Every day, our DSPs are there, in the big moments and the ordinary ones. They help people pursue their goals, build relationships, experience their communities, stay healthy and safe, and live lives that are uniquely their own. Much of what they do happens quietly, without recognition or fanfare. But it matters tremendously.
We hope our DSPs know that they are valued and appreciated not just during DSP Week, but every week of the year. They are at the heart of Richcroft, and we are incredibly fortunate to have them on our team.
September also gave us the opportunity to celebrate the power of partnership through our League of Dreams baseball clinic. In partnership with Stevenson University, we brought together people supported by Richcroft for a day of baseball, fun and connection. Thank you to founder Frank Kolarek and we were thrilled to have Orioles Hall of Famer Mike Bordick and MLB World Series Champion Adam Kolarek out on the field!
Watching everyone participate, learn, laugh and enjoy the game was a wonderful reminder that when we create opportunities that are truly inclusive, everyone gets to be part of the experience. This would not have happened without our wonderful partners at Maury, Donnelly and Parr who sponsored this event for the second year in a row. Thank you to James Werking and everyone at MDP!
And then there is The Kahlert Cafe another example of possibility becoming reality. This month, the Café had the opportunity to work with St. John Properties to cater a tenant appreciation lunch. What made this especially meaningful was that it wasn't simply about serving a meal. It was about showcasing the skills, talents and professionalism of the people who make the Café special. It was another opportunity for the Kahlert Café to be seen not just as a Richcroft program, but as a place where people can learn, work, contribute and be valued.
When I look at these three stories - our DSPs supporting people every day, a baseball field bringing people together, and the Kahlert Café creating meaningful employment experiences - I see the same thing: possibility.
At Richcroft, we talk a lot about opening doors to more possibility. But doors don't open themselves. They open because someone believes there is something on the other side worth pursuing - and then takes the time, effort and courage to make it happen.
Thank you to our DSPs, our staff, our partners, our families and everyone who continues to open those doors with us. There is so much more possibility ahead. And I can't wait to see where we go next.
Best,
|
