Greetings!
Long-time Lighthouse Trails reader and friend Dan Foster (from Montana) and Lighthouse Trails author Kevin Reeves (from Alaska) are both widowers. The two became friends after given an introduction by Lighthouse Trails shortly after Kevin lost his wife in the spring of 2023. Because they shared a common loss but also shared a common faith in Christ, the friendship provided encouragement and exhortation to each of them. Upon witnessing this and after hearing from many Lighthouse Trails readers over the years who have also lost spouses, Lighthouse Trails editors presented an idea to Dan and Kevin to start an online Bible study/fellowship group specifically for Lighthouse Trails readers who are widows and widowers sharing the commonality of their loss, their faith, and their desire to be discerning Christians.
After prayer and discussion, Dan and Kevin have agreed to give it a try. Each session will be about an hour and a half long once a week, held online. Each participant will need a computer with Internet access.
While this is not a Lighthouse Trails project, per se, we have offered to help in any way we can. Thus, we have offered to receive the initial e-mails of interested folks and will pass those on to Dan, who will put together the group and will contact each person.
Please keep this project in prayer for if the Lord blesses it and clearly opens the door, perhaps other groups can start up too.
We have asked Dan Foster to give a word of introduction to our readers. Here it is below:
Hi,
My name is Dan, and I lost my wife, Cathy, of 25 years, fifty-two months ago and have (mostly) suffered in silence. I would like to invite you to a time of prayer, Bible study, sharing, and fellowship. We will join together each Saturday night @ 5pm (MST) with others in God’s family for a time of breaking of bread in God’s Holy Word.
May God abide with us and heal us all!
Dan
