Colleges and universities, companies, nonprofits, and area high schools are doing amazing things to prepare or upskill our workforce. The number one thing we consistently hear from our members is their need for qualified talent. In response, we modified our Superstars in Education awards program, now retitled to Superstars in Education and Training.
It is our goal to shine a spotlight on schools and training programs that are running innovative programs to meet today's and tomorrow's employer needs. It is our hope that programs like these inspire others to build initiatives that help create talent pipelines for other industries and career pathways for all Delawareans.
While many go through the rigorous application process, only a handful of winners were selected. An award is given to one independent training provider, a higher education program, and a Delaware high school. Awards of Excellence are given to deserving applicants too. This year’s winners are:
-
FOOD BANK OF DELAWARE for their Culinary School and Logistics, Operations, General Warehousing and Inventory Control (LOGIC) programs! As our independent training and certificate winner, these programs serve unemployed and under-employed adults with barriers to employment and is recognized as a trade school by the Delaware Department of Education.
-
YEAR UP WILMINGTON, in collaboration with Wilmington University, is our higher education winner. Year Up works to close the opportunity divide by empowering young adults with skills, experiences, and support to begin fulfilling careers and realize their potential.
- Our high school winner is the ACE mentoring program at PAUL M. HODGSON VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL. The Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Program introduces students to the wide range of career opportunities open to young people in these important fields.
- Our Award of Excellence recipient is ZIP CODE WILMINGTON, an employer-driven code school that teaches the skills that Fortune 500 employers need.
Superstars in Education & Training is a flagship program under our workforce development affiliate, The Partnership, Inc. Learn more about our 2022 Superstars and their impact as we celebrate them on Monday, May 9th at Wilmington University in New Castle. Join us >
