As the Giving Challenge 2022 is on the horizon, The Child Protection Center (CPC) would like to take a moment to reflect on the immense generosity and support of our community, during the Giving Challenge of 2020. Your heart and compassion helped us through some of the most challenging days our organization has ever seen, and we would be remiss if we didn’t share our story with you today.
In March of 2020, the world began to darken as the rise of COVID-19 began to spread across the globe. Restrictions were put in place to protect all members of our community. COVID-19 placed the most vulnerable children of our community at even greater risk as families were faced with mounting stress, financial uncertainty, unemployment, and children facing extended periods of isolation in critically unsafe situations.
With the onset of the pandemic came the heartbreaking decision to cancel our largest fundraising event of the year. We were devastated, as we knew it would be increasingly more difficult to raise funds used towards the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse.
The Giving Challenge 2020 was truly a gift in itself when it was needed the most. CPC was able to remain a lifeline to our most vulnerable population- victims of child abuse. Your generosity through the Giving Challenge allowed CPC to remain open, fully functioning throughout the pandemic.
