Friends,
With February break fast approaching, we must pause to reflect on our past month. Rested and restored by the holidays, our students have returned to the Boulevard with passion. Importantly, we celebrated our 22nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Service with a look toward Black History Month. The spirit of our mission was incredibly powerful that day. So many young men spoke of their experiences in a way that affirmed and inspired our commitment to equity and inclusion.
These past few weeks have been centered on the deep sense of community our students, faculty and staff, parents, and alumni feel. So many causes and experiences have united us - from Chinese New Year, to National Signing Day, the Go Red for Women movement, and service that takes us to the margins.
Walking through Hunter-Fahey Commons late one evening, I was struck by the silhouette of a white tuxedo outside Corcoran Library. The mannequin it adorned was faceless, and in that tuxedo I saw all of our wonderful 15,000 alumni throughout the world. All with unique lives and personal ways of finding the
magis - but all united by this place. All of them Eagles.
And I was filled with pride and optimism for the Class of 2020 that will don those tuxedos in just a few months. They will claim the diplomas for which they have worked so diligently, and venture out into the world to seek change for the better.
Thank you so much for your support of these boys, and us, as we strive to provide the best education for the leaders of tomorrow.

American Heart Association's #GoRedforWomen Day
|
|
On Friday, our community celebrated #WearRedDay for the American Heart Association's annual #GoRedforWomen campaign - raising awareness for heart disease, heart attacks and strokes among women! Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women, causing 1 in every 3 deaths each year, and kills approximately 1 woman every minute.
We encouraged faculty and staff members to take “Healthy Selfies” dressed in their red, committed last week’s Mite Box collection to the AHA, and reflected as a community on the often underrepresented threat of cardiovascular disease in women.
