Letter from a Graduate

“I attended WDCS from 2002 to 2011, starting in Pre-K and staying all the way through 8th grade. I was there during the years when the school was still in the portables, which I actually loved — as a kid, it all felt so whimsical! I attended Trinity Christian Academy in Addison for high school, then went on to the University of Arkansas where I studied International Studies and Asian Studies, with a minor in Japanese. Currently, I am preparing for an exciting move to Ecuador to pursue work in the field of wellness and holistic healing.

I never felt neglected or overlooked during my time at WDCS. Every teacher encouraged my curiosity, and I held a special bond with each one.

Even the uniforms were something I valued — they took pressure off both parents and students, allowing us to focus on what was most important: God, one another, and our education. Looking back, what impacted me most was the richness of opportunities and the love woven into every part of the school. WDCS truly gave me the space to explore, grow, and thrive in the most important ways.

I am so grateful to WDCS for every experience, every lesson, and every person who made my years there so special. Thank you for thirty years of dedication to nurturing curiosity, kindness, and growth in every student. May the school continue to thrive and touch the lives of countless children for many more years to come”.

Second Grade Spotlight

In August and September, our second graders learned about continents and oceans in geography lessons. They memorized geographical locations on the map and a fact about each continent and ocean. This week, students created a map of the world on blue paper plates to show what they learned!

Continuing Education for Teachers

During our fall in-service day, teachers spent a few hours at other schools observing classrooms of the same grade and subject they teach. All of the schools share commonalities with WDCS -- Christian, classical, urban, or a combination of the three. Our goal is for teachers to glean new teaching ideas and build new connections with other educators.

Teachers visited the following schools:

  • Momentous School (pictured)
  • Highland Park Presbyterian Day School
  • The Covenant School of Dallas
  • St. Mark's School of Texas
  • Live Oak Classical School
  • Tosch Elementary School & Mary Moss Elementary School
  • Trinity Christian Academy
  • Providence Christian School of Texas
  • The Cambridge School
