The morning was further elevated by two remarkable Eagle Scout speakers. Christian Hooks, a double graduate of Tulane University with a B.S. in Public Health and a Master’s in Health Administration, shared how Scouting helped shape his journey toward medical school. Sudeshna, a proud member of Troop 423 and Gold Medal Congressional Award recipient, spoke about how Scouting ignited her passion for service and leadership. She will begin her biology studies at UCLA this fall.
We are grateful for the leadership of Steven J. Rothans, Board Chair and President, and Maricela Gonzalez-Orendain, Acting Scout Executive. Special thanks as well to Maria S. Salinas, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, whose warmth and presence as emcee brought the event full circle.
Thanks to your support, Greater Los Angeles Scouting delivers high-impact programs through Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Exploring. In 2024, over 12,700 youth participated in Scouting, including 962 girls, with nearly 1,000 receiving Scoutreach and Campership support covering annual dues, uniforms, and camp experiences.
