The Summer of '22
Greetings!

It was quite a sight to see the USS Kearsarge in Stockholm Harbor. The Kearsarge is a US Navy Wasp class amphibious assault ship that has maintained a presence in and around the Baltic since Finland and Sweden applied to NATO. There have been joint military exercises conducted in the Baltic all summer. We routinely see smaller Swedish naval vessels cruise past our apartment and military aircraft fly overhead. Such is the uncertainty of these days.

Which means the task of the gospel and church planting are all the more urgent. We are ever so thankful for all of you - our friends, family, prayer and financial partners. You mean the world to us and we are able to do what we do because you do what you do. Together we are a team making a difference - in Sweden, the Nordic Baltic, Europe, Russia, and elsewhere. With grateful hearts, we say...

Thank You!!
Jim and Lynn
Every Summer Has a Story
"You have fixed all of the boundaries of the earth;
you have made summer and winter."
Psalm 74:17

Our friend and prayer partner - Paul Lindberg - visited Stockholm in May. Paul serves with CRU and was here to help organize the 50th anniversary of AgapeSweden this October. What an important impact they have on Sweden's universities!
This summer we spent the day with Joseph and Isabell Arnfjell - pastors of SOS Church Västerås. It has been our privilege to walk alongside these leaders for the past seven years and see their ministry expand and grow.
In early summer, our friend Penao baptized a new believer is Assam, India. We coach and mentor Penao as part of ReachGlobal's Catalyst Training Program. We are assisting Penao in developing a three year training program for church planters and leaders in Assam and Aruncahal Pradesh targeting unreached people groups. Some of the tribal groups are multinational and live on both sides of the border with China.
In June the annual gathering of M4 Europe leaders from 15 nations was held in Kristiansand, Norway. It was the first time to meet after three years and everyone was excited to continue the goal to plant one church each day in Europe. Here founder and movement leader - Øivind Augland - casts vision.
We serve M4 as Strategic Consultants for Latvia as well as promoting M4 in other nations. Here Kenno Leier from Helsinki, Finland introduces us.
M4 = Master, Mission, Multiplication, Movement.
In Kristiansand, Jim spent a few days strategizing with the M4 Latvia team. Sanita and Nauris - M4 Latvia National Leaders, Kaspars - Bishop of the Latvian Baptist Union, Jim, and Andrejs - Director of Youth for the Baptist Union.
Since we don't own a car in Sweden, we ride public transportation - and at times that includes ferries which are a lot of fun. Here we are on a ferry with our friends Stephen and Karen Sloat from Indio, California. Stephen is pastor of Coachella Valley Christian Church, our newest church partner in the Nordic.
In July our daughter Kim and our granddaughter Asia (aunt/niece) visited us in Stockholm. Since we were not able to go to the USA, we brought Asia to Sweden to celebrate her high school graduation. She will attend Emmanuel College in north Georgia this fall on a volleyball scholarship.
Part of Asia's adventure was seeing Stockholm from the water - and we mean from really close to the water. What a fun kayak trip!
We recently visited the city of Vaxholm, Sweden with our colleagues and friends, Roger and Marie Arnfjell. Vaxholm is called the capital of the Stockholm Archipelago and was once the fortress city protecting Stockholm. It has a heritage of Christian revivals and even has a street named after a famous pastor, Carl Andersson. This summer the last evangelical church closed in this city that hosts tens of thousands of visitors each year. Please pray for a gospel movement in Vaxholm.
Many of you have been following how God has been blessing this social media outreach. Two years ago the simple salvation prayer was posted on the Junia Magazine Facebook site that Lynn administers for our Swedish partners, Mission International. In that time over 1 million people have been reached, over 16,000 have said "Amen" as they accepted Christ, over 62,000 have liked this one post, and almost 900 have shared it. This is something only God could do. Would you pray for these new believers? Lynn's posts reach approximately 50,000 people every week.
Mission International - our Swedish ministry partners - routinely sends out Swedish New Testaments to those requesting them via internet sites. Here are the Bibles sent out last Friday. Please pray that the Word transforms the recipients' hearts.
