A Surprise In My Mailbox

And, yes, it was a NICE surprise.  I had just returned from a long and shall we say, "interesting" week on the road. I collected my mail from my P.O. Box and found a small, brown envelope in it. The return address was Kentucky.

I opened it. Here's what it said:

"Ms. Pat:

I appreciate your emails of encouragement each month. Yes, it is overdue that you should also receive a BIG THANK YOU! God Bless and Have a Great Day!"

                                                        Bruce Gee

This small envelope just made my day. I felt appreciated.

Now, this isn't written as a plea for more cards. It is written as a palpable reminder that a word of encouragement can give the recipient the lift needed to create a smile.

I emailed Bruce to thank him for the thank you. He told me that he sends out a few cards each week to his clients. Good for him: Good for the people to whom he sends his notes.

I write often about the power of the "thank you". They are especially powerful when received for no reason in particular except that you were thinking of the other person and wanted to express gratitude.

Shouldn't we take a note from Bruce and make this a part of our weekly activities? My thanks to Bruce for reminding me of how important this is.

P.S. My thanks to ALL my readers and subscribers to the Bryson Broadcasting Newsletter. I hope they may encourage you as they do Bruce.

The Client's Corner

I have the privilege to work with some outstanding broadcasters. Two of these were honored at the recent Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters annual convention.

KTFX, Muskogee, OK won Best of Show as well as 1st place for the commercial announcement for Mr. Glass. KTFX also won Personality of the Year for the Cliff and Katey morning show.  KTFX is a part of Payne Broadcasting.

KOFM, Enid, OK won for Station Event Promotion, an annual event to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. KOFM is owned by Williams Broadcasting.

My congratulations to the staffs of both of these excellent radio stations!
