November 1st, 2016
Thankful November!

Thank you, my dear Conversational Threads Friends and Supporters!

You are the heart of our wonderful community.  When I started this business in 2009, there is nothing that could have prepared me for the oasis Conversational Threads has become.  We have been through a lot together, laughing together, crying together, learning together, cheering finished projects, bemoaning ripped out projects, and talked at length about what makes someone “knitworthy.”  You have been solidly behind me in sickness and in health. You have been angry at injustices on my behalf, you have helped me out when I reach the edge of overwhelmed.

And, thanks to you, Conversational Threads just keeps getting better and better!  Everyday is an adventure where I get to help you with your projects, cheer you on, teach you new things, and knit our lives together.  I am humbled to do what I love for a living, and share with you everything I can to help you enjoy your creative journey in knitting, crocheting and all the fiber arts.  And I can assure you that every one of our associates feels the same way I do about all of you.

Thank you for being you, and supporting this place. Our Oasis.

Thank you for believing in Conversational Threads!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Bus to Vogue Knitting Live! in New York City is Chartered!

As you may already know, Conversational Threads has decided to take one year off from being a vendor once again at the prestigious VogueKnittingLive! event in New York City in January in order to prepare many fresh new ideas for 2018.

Nevertheless, since we have had so very many requests for it, we have decided once again to charter a bus to the show on Saturday, January 14th, so you can travel to the show and visit the Marketplace the easy way!

Here are the details -
The bus will leave the parking lot of the Weis Market in Emmaus promptly at 7:30AM to arrive at the show by the opening time of 10AM, and will leave New York City promptly at 5PM.

Price of the trip is $38 (bus driver tip included) for the bus ride.

I will try to have discounted tickets to the Marketplace available for sale on the bus, but I have not yet heard back from Vogue concerning whether or not I will be able to get the tickets. (It’s still very early.)
I will let you know as soon as I know whether or not I have been successful.

Call the shop or stop by to sign up and pay for your seat - this bus fills quickly!
Upcoming Classes
Elise Crocheted Shawl with Deb
Thursday Evenings, November 3rd,
10th and 17th
6:30PM - 8:30 PM
Cost $10.00 per session

In just one class, you can learn this simple two row repeat pattern, with an increase at the point, to create this light, airy Elise Shawl designed by Even Plevinski (a free Ravelry download).  Using just one skein of fingering weight yarn (437 yards - or more, for a larger shawl) and a 5.5mm (US.I) crochet hook, this pattern is easy and works up quickly.  Make it in a lovely gradient yarn as shown in the picture, or get one of our skeins with sequins and you will have a perfect party shawl for the holidays!

Learn the Twigg Stitch
with Vicki Twigg

Sat. November 19th - 1:00PM - 4:00PM

Cost - $55.00

Vicki is back with another session of her very popular class!

Learn to create a unique fabric with a different color each side!

Next, when you are ready, try out any of a wide range of patterns and stitches from the stitch dictionary in the Twigg stitch book (bring your own, purchase one via download, or buy one at the workshop from Vicki for $25) to make a scarf or shawl.  There is plenty of room to customize your own unique piece.

The class is in 2 stages:

First, you will be learning the basic technique. For this you will need 2 colors of the same type of yarn with enough contrast to tell them apart. Sport or medium weight that is fairly smooth is the best yarn to use for learning and for experimentation.  You also will need the recommended size needles for the yarn.

Second, for the project, Vicki would suggest using 2 colors of your favorite thickness of yarn. Bear in mind that Twigg stitch knits up a little thicker than single yarn rib and it takes up to 1.5 times as much yarn as you would use for regular knitting (half each of 2 yarns). You also again will need the recommended size needles for the yarn (and a size larger and smaller if you want to experiment with the texture).

Skill Level:

You need a good knowledge of basic knitting skills, however the key to doing Twigg stitch is in how you hold and use the yarns. You will begin with holding one yarn in each hand so learning to knit with your 'other' hand is useful (only knit is needed for the left hand) and you can move on to holding both yarns in the same hand for those who prefer.

Call the shop to sign up for this class soon, as space is limited!
