Dear Lehman College Community,
As horrific descriptions of the actions taken by Hamas militants against civilians continue to trickle out of Israel, I want to assure you that I and Lehman College condemn these violent acts in the strongest way possible.
We pride Lehman College as a place where diversity and our differences are celebrated, creating a safe space for everyone to be who they want to be, without fear of reprisals or repercussions. It's important that we maintain that environment, especially during times like these when emotions are raw and the pain can be ever-present.
Our instinct may be to lash out, to divide, but now is the time to come together and work towards our common goal to make the world a better place.
We know that many of you have friends and family impacted by this escalation of violence and hope for a quick resolution so the healing can begin. Until that time, we are here to support you as best we can.
Students who are dealing with the emotional trauma of the last few days are encouraged to seek support through Lehman’s Counseling Center.
Faculty and staff who would like assistance may connect with the Employee Assistance Program CCA@YourService.
Sincerely,
Fernando Delgado, PhD
President, Lehman College
