Fusion has been hosting early auditions for the upcoming year. If you are a returning student and want to audition, please come by the Dance Room # 658.
 
Boys and girls interested in Bowling for the next school year, see Coach Muhtar or go to the Athletic Office Room 517.

Our last Catholic Student Union meeting will be this Wednesday, May 31, during both lunches in Room 289. We will have special time in communion with each other and will be selecting next year's board members and more. Be there!
 
UTD members, please be aware and calendar in your iPhones our final UTD Unit meeting for this school year. It will be this Wednesday, May 31, in Room 709 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.  Members, we ask you to join us. We want to ensure that your concerns are being heard and that we are keeping you aware as UTD and the District negotiate our contract over the summer. Please stop by. Congratulations to the new PTSA Board!  
        
On Thursday, May 19, the PTSA held the last General Meetingof the year in the Media Center.
During the same evening, the new PTSA Board for 2017-2018 was elected. Congratulations to the new Executive Board members!

To receive your final report card by mail, please leave a self-addressed stamped envelope in the drop off box in the main office. Please include your student ID on the back of the envelope.

 
 
Registration packets for students new to Miami-Dade County Public Schools for the 2017-2018 school year are available at the main office. Please ask Registrar Ms. Lopez.

The Beach High Pre-IB Scholars Academy and IB Diploma Program will hold an important orientation for new students who have been accepted to the program on Wednesday, August 16, at 9 am in the Media Center.

AOHT Is a NAF Distinguished Academy once again

Twelve Distinguished Academies from Miami were honored at the last School Board meeting. Congratulations to our Beach High Academy of Hospitality and Tourism for being one of the Distinguished Academy! Thank you to our teachers and administrators for being the backbones of our successful academies. This designation is given to a select few academies that have exhibited fidelity to an educational design to prepare students for success in college and careers.

 
 


Ms. Gregory Receives Janet Linton Leadership Award

Congratulations to Ms. Patricia Gregory, Academy of Hospitality and Tourism Lead Teacher, for being named a recipient of the Janet Linton Leadership Award.
This award recognizes outstanding academy directors and educational leadership within the NAF network, at the school, district and state levels. Winners will receive their award in Dallas, TX on July 9-12.

PRE-GRADUATION DAY PROCEDURES - MIAMI BEACH SENIOR HIGH

Watsco Center at the University of Miami

The Pavia and Merrick garages will provide free parking for attendees.
Arrival Time:  7:00 am                                     
Ceremony Start Time: 9:00 am  
  

Graduation Tickets: Each graduate will receive 6 tickets.  Each person attending (not including the graduate) MUST have a ticket, including children. 
 
Cap & Gown: 
 ·        Try it on at home.  Make sure it fits and zipper works. 
·         Hang up the gown to smooth out wrinkles.
·         Do NOT iron the gown, use a steamer
 
Dress Code (underneath the gown):
MALES
Dress Pants (dark color)
White or light colored dress shirt must have a collar
Tie
Dress Shoes
NO jeans, shorts, sneakers, sandals, or any other garment considered to be casual
 
FEMALES
Dress Slacks, Dress/ Skirt and Blouse (light colored recommended)
Dress pants, dress shirt / blouse
Dress shoes or dress sandals; keep in mind that you are walking
NO midriffs, jeans, shorts, sneakers, flip flops or any other garment considered to be casual
 
IMPORTANT!
Gowns will be returned....  Diplomas will be issued once you have returned your gown.  A diploma will not be issued if your gown is not returned.
DO NOT ALTER YOUR CAP AND/OR GOWN IN ANY WAY (No messages, pictures or drawings on the cap or gown).
DOING SO WILL RESULT IN YOUR REMOVAL FROM THE GRADUATION PROCESSIONAL.
 
 
DURING THE PROCESSIONAL
 
GRADUATES MAY NOT WALK WITH THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
-         CAMERAS
-         CELL PHONES
-         IPODS/MP3 PLAYERS (ETC)
-         PURSES
-         ELECTRONIC DEVICES OF ANY KIND
-         SHOES IN HAND
  
Graduation Ceremony is a dignified event marking a rite of passage.  Miami Beach Senior High students, their families and guests are to treat it as such, and conduct themselves in a manner befitting the ceremony.  Students and/or guests are not to bring any items that will distract from the ceremony.  Students and guests who do not adhere to this request will be removed from the premises.

Rudra Bhatt Technology Scholarship

$500 to assist with College Tuition - Apply by May 30!   
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:
1.       Miami Beach Senior High School Graduating Senior
2.       GPA of at Least 2.5 unweighted
3.       Minimum of 50 Community Service Hours
4.       Have two letters of Recommendation attached to your application. One must be a former or current teacher, and one from an individual (not a relative) familiar with your character
5.       Participation in Technology coursework and/or extracurricular activities
6.       Interest in pursuing a career related to Technology
7.       Use scholarship funds for college tuition
8.       Completed application form
9.       Submission of a power point, video, or multimedia presentation that summarizes experience and interest in Technology, how the scholarship will be used and why the applicant is deserving of this award.
10.     Photo ID
11.     Videotaping Release (provided by Ms. Sakowicz)

The traditional Scholars-IB Banquet for Senior students, their parents and teachers was held on May 28 at the Miami Shores Country Club.
