Children K - 5 - Final Roots & Wings of Chapel Season!
This Sunday will be our final Roots and Wings session for the chapel season. Lessons on stillness, willpower, truth, faith and courage to exploring the life of Jesus have been offered to our children via the inspired leadership of Teddi Koch and Mary Jo Stevenson - to whom are are most grateful!
We hope your children will join us this Sunday for a most impactful affirmation for our final Roots and Wings lesson! “ My heart holds the truth, my voice speaks the truth, my life shares the truth.”  We’ll explore this through a Chinese folktale of an 8-year-old child, play a truth or not game and learn some sign language.
Meet in the Chapel and at the start of welcome students will be escorted to class by Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Koch.

Bocce 2019 - A Blast!
A great, homemade Italian meal started the evening after a time for refreshments

The Highwood Bocce Club was founded in 1969, and for the last 6 or 7 years we've enjoyed a winter evening for fellowship, food and bocce. They are excellent hosts! Thanks to John Corrigan and Pam Campbell for making it all happen last Saturday night. Looking forward to next year!

A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console,
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

It's not too late to help Jay and Kim Nyren with the

16th Annual Ryan Nyland Toy Drive

You can play an important role in helping the extraordinary people at Lurie Children's Hospital care for their young patients by purchasing a toy or two and dropping it off at the church office between now and March 12! Better yet - bring a toy to church on Sunday! If you have questions, email  Kim Nyland

Thanks very much - and thanks to all who have already
dropped toys off at the church office!

Hi Folks,

March is a busy month for music! I’d especially suggest checking out one of the many Chi-Town Jazz festival events . This event is put on by our friend John Moulder and benefits Catholic Charities and Care For Real.  I’ll highlight the folks who have played for our church that are participating in Friday shows below.

Friday: As part of the Chi-Town Festival, Soul Message Band with special guest Geof Bradfield will be playing the 9:30 and 11:30 pm shows at Andy’s Jazz Club in Chicago. Also part of the Jazz Festival, The Don Stiernberg Quartet will be At Steve Rashid’s Studio 5 in Evanston starting at 8 pm.

Saturday:  Soul Message Band will be back at Andy’s Jazz Club in Chicago for a CD release party. Shows are at 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm.

Sunday: We’ll have singer-songwriter Brett Kreiner joining us for the first Sunday in Lent. That afternoon our friends King Robinson and the Houswreckers will be at The Humble Pub in Highwood starting at 2 pm.

Mark your Calendars

March 15: Soul Message Band at Big Ed’s BBQ & Grill 9 pm.

March 16: Head to The Humble Pub in Highwood for an evening of St. Patrick's Day shenanigans & tom foolery with live music from The Hellhounds!! The Trinity Irish Dancers at Humble Pub will also be making an appearance!

March 22: Jazz Conceptions will be playing at Little Ricky’s in Winnetka from 8-10 pm.

April 6: Soul Message band at Mrs. Murphy and Son’s Irish Bistro 7:30 pm

June 30: Foodstock on the Village Green in Lake Bluff starting at 4 pm

September 22nd: All day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association at Barbara’s Bookstore in Vernon Hills. This is a new event that I’ll be managing music for and the Community Church will be helping as well. We’ll be featuring Nic Barnum, Terry Moran, Christina Trulio, Dana Lawrence Gillis, Daniela Sloan, The Promenade Players theatre group, Artwork that depicts memories by local children and much more! Stay tuned for more specific details as we plan the event.

Recordings:  Our friend LG Taylor has penned lyrics for the song “Hold My Hand Dear” and it’s now available on iTunes and Google Play . In my opinion the song is an instant classic and should be on everyone's playlist! Also the CD Soulful Days by our friends the Soul Message Band is now out on the classic Chicago Blues label, Delmark Records. The schedule didn’t quite work out to have them at the chapel this winter/spring so I’d suggest getting your Soul Message fix by purchasing your copy here: “ Soulful Days

See you soon!
