God at Work

I want you to let go for a moment, and transcend to the beautiful shoreline of the Sea of Galilee.  The warm sunshine saturating your skin, and the fine sand beneath your feet.  Before you stands Jesus, Simon and Andrew.  Jesus looks over at the two fishermen before Him.  He speaks just one sentence, but that sentence forever changes everything for Simon and Andrew.

"Come, follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.  Immediately they left their nets and followed Him (Matthew 4:17-18)."

Our life on this earth is fragile and temporary.  Conversely, eternity is everlasting and will be firmly planted in the consistency of life alongside our Creator.  Simon and Andrew understood this infinite truth, and did not hesitate leaving everything that they had known to follow Jesus that very second.

This life changing transformation is not reserved for the Saints of old.  God continues to speak today!  The following interview with Jim Holden (Founder, Fish for Life) is an inspirational example of the living legacy of those who embrace God's everlasting transformation:

" I experienced a drop to your knees, burning bush, aha moment by the Holy Spirit in January of 2009.  It clearly and vividly revealed my calling, and I did not hesitate in my response.  It became the inception of the non-profit ministry, Fish for Life.  This God driven organization brings dignity, inclusion and new possibilities to special needs children and their families.

The road before me was not easy, and came with more challenges than I could handle by myself.  But I was not alone, I had God clearing the road ahead of me.  I remaining obedient, pursued my calling while still providing for my family.

One of the ways that the Lord came alongside me was through my membership with The Barnabas Group ("TBG").  I needed help with running my new non-profit.  I have now been attending TBG's Coaching Cohort led by Russ Cline for the past few years.  It has been very helpful, and it is a fine example of Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." There have been so many excellent speakers teaching on a variety of subjects.

Last Fall they featured coach Gilles Gravelle who taught lessons from his book.  After the meeting I asked Gilles if he would help me with Fish for Life, and he agreed.  Gilles took it upon himself to attend one of Fish for Life's opening ceremonies to better understand the essence of the program.  I have since had several meetings with Gilles as my coach, who has been a blessing by sharing his wisdom on several topics.  One of which is the creation of a more effective narrative that better defines the impact of Fish for Life.

I am so very grateful and blessed to have support that will enable Fish for Life to attract larger donor opportunities, and ultimately serve more families."
