November 2023
Happy Thanksgiving! Hansen's Dairy stores will be
open regular hours on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and
closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.
Photo of the Month
This was the sunrise at the farm on Halloween. Cold, blustery winds kept the young cows inside while the milking cows finished up in the parlor.

An hour after after we snapped this photo, a group of FFA students from Storm Lake braved the frigid wind chills to tour our farm on their way to the National FFA Convention. The group helped close out the 2023 tour season, which ends every year on Oct. 31.

Next year marks 20 years of tours on the farm, and we can't wait to celebrate the milestone with our cows, kangaroos and YOU! Tour season 2024 starts April 1!

See you next season!

Just in time for the cold snap and fall flavors, our premium Oh Snap! Shake is rich, creamy and indulgent.

We start with a small vanilla shake blended with velvety cheesecake bites and caramel. Whipped cream and caramel drizzle come next, then gingersnap crumbles for extra autumn snap. (We promised you it was decadent. Mmm ...)

Available all month long at our Cedar Falls and Waterloo stores for $5.79.
Pizza of the Month
The weather has cooled but the tropical heat is still on with our November Pizza of the Month.

Our Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza is loaded with layers of ham, bacon bits, red peppers, pineapple and gooey mozzarella atop a fresh crust slathered with pizza sauce.

Pick up a large 14-inch Ultimate Hawaiian Pizza all month long at our Cedar Falls store for just $19.99.

You'll also find many other giftable items from a variety of Iowa producers. Swing in to our stores and support local small businesses at the holidays.
Save the date: A Very Dairy Christmas
Where but Hansen's Dairy can you pet a dairy calf, make a Christmas craft, have a plate of holiday goodies and visit Santa?

Our annual holiday event, A Very Dairy Christmas, is set for Saturday, Dec. 9, at Hansen's Dairy Tour Center in Hudson. Guests can choose from two sessions: 1-2:30 p.m. or 3-4:30 p.m.

This family-friendly event has all the magic of the holidays, including a visit with Santa, an ornament craft for kids and the chance to write a letter to the jolly old elf himself. (Santa tells us he'll write back!) Unique to A Very Dairy Christmas is the chance to see a dairy calf up close.

Guests will also enjoy sampling from a holiday charcuterie spread filled with locally sourced cheeses, meats, crackers, jams, fruits and more.

We'll also have a selection of decadent holiday sweets. Think Winter Snowball and Old-Fashioned Gingerbread cake pops! Complementing the feast will be Hansen's Dairy Egg Nog and hot chocolate made from our rich, creamy chocolate milk.

Those who bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Salvation Army Christmas drive will be entered into a drawing to win a Hansen's Dairy gift basket.

Only 75 tickets will be sold for each session. Tickets go on sale Nov. 13 and are only available online at hansendairy.com.
Customer of the Month
Heather Heasley is a longtime Hansen's Dairy customer and our November Customer of the Month.

"My first introduction to Hansen's was with my Grandma Charlotte at the Waterloo store, back when it was called Moo Roo," Heather says. "It was our favorite place to get milk and ice cream."

These days, the Heasley family usually shops at our farm store in Hudson. When they're looking for a made-to-order treat like a Turtle Sundae, they visit our Cedar Falls store.

"I love Hansen's products because they are delicious and well priced, and I also want to support local when possible," Heather notes.

Thanks, Heather! Customers of the Month receive a $5 gift certificate to use at our stores and two free hands-on tour passes to the farm (a $40 value). You could be chosen by filling out an entry form at our stores or through your comments on our Facebook page.
Meet the Moo Crew
Say hello to Marisa Lampman, this month's Moo Crew spotlight employee!

Marisa is the training manager at our Cedar Falls store. She started working for Hansen's Dairy in March 2021.

A favorite among our Cedar Falls store customers and well-liked by fellow employees, Marisa is a ball of energy in her work and a patient instructor to new hires.

Learn more about Marisa in this video.
Cow of the Month
Our November Cow of the Month has quite the personality!

Apple Mini, pictured showing her affection for Herd Manager Blake Hansen, is known for her deep "purring" noises when she's feeling happy and content among her herd mates.

She also can be a bit of a silly goose. See a highlight reel of Apple Mini's antics here.

This bodacious, sturdy bovine turns 5 years old on Dec. 30 and is a sweet cow to work with in the milking parlor. In fact, she's a bit of a star there, with very high butterfat of 4.6%. Most Holsteins average 3.2%-3.6% butterfat.
Cooking with Hansen's
Here's a hearty bread recipe that will go well with soup or toasted with some Hansen's Butter and teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. It can also be a unique and satisfying addition to your Thanksgiving meal.
