Clean water for God's thirsty children

Mother’s Day

She was always there. Waking us up in the morning and reading to us as we fell asleep. Cheering for us on the sideline or caring for us when we were sick. Celebrating our achievements and consoling us when things fell apart.

Even for those of us who have lost our mothers, she is still there – in a favorite meal or cookie, in a stray thought or story, when we fall and unconsciously reach for her to help us up. She is never far from our minds.

At Water With Blessings , we celebrate Mother’s Day all the time. Because nearly every one of our Water Women is a Mother first and foremost. And as with most mothers, her care extends beyond her own family. She sees beyond her own four walls, understanding that others share in her desperate situation.

The filter and bucket are only tools. But in the hands of a Mother, a Water Woman, they become a source of life, protecting the health of God’s thirsty children.

So today, consider a Mother’s Day gift, either in honor of that person who continues to look after and worry about you, or in memory for the love she gave so selflessly. Please consider making a gift so that more Mothers will be able to care for their loved ones and those around them.
A Mother's Plea to Others
Water With Blessings Board Member Tammy Reid took a few minutes to talk to other Mothers (and the rest of us) on their special day.

Please take a moment to listen to her request on behalf of God's thirsty children. Thank you.
The Power of One

Thank you to all who have taken part in our ‘Power of One’ sustaining donor drive. Remember that one donor can supply one Water Woman with one filter and bucket and provide 4 families with clean water. And the wonderful thing is that Power of One can be multiplied over and over.

Please give your Mother a special gift this year: the Power of One . Make her a Monthly Sustainer , and let her know that she is once again giving the gift of life, this time to the poorest of our sisters and brothers.

And this week, you can increase the Power by contributing through
Kentucky Gives Day ,
where some of our generous donors will match your gift.
And you don't even have to live in Kentucky to participate . Please help!
A Mother’s Instruction...
We don’t hear many words from Mary, the mother of Jesus. But there is an indelible portrait painted of her in the story of the wedding at Cana. The wedding couple is on the verge of humiliation because there isn’t enough wine for all the guests.

Being a Mother, her instincts lead her to finding a solution, in this case asking her Son to do something. At first He resists. I think we can all imagine the look she gave Him.

And then to the stewards serving at the reception, she utters five unforgettable words: “Do whatever He tells you.”

Jesus goes on to save the party, and throughout the rest of the Gospels he tells us many things. At the very end of Matthew’s Gospel, in explaining to us how God will evaluate our lives, He says: “I was thirsty, and you gave me drink…”

During this month of May, the month of Mothers, let us ponder Mary’s instruction to the stewards, and the words of Jesus to us all.

Thank you once again for providing clean water for
God’s thirsty children.
