"Thank God for Rescuing Us from Tyranny!"
Dear fellow patriots,

Have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow! This year we have much for which to give thanks. We thank the Lord for saving us from the judicial tyranny of the U.S. Supreme Court by overturning the unconstitutional holdings of Roe v. Wade, Lemon v. Kurtzman, and other deviant court decisions. We thank God also for providentially delivering us from the potential tyranny of having Stacey Abrams as Governor and for delivering us from an oppressive so-called "Republican" tyrant in the state legislature. If we trust in the Lord's Word, repent of our sins, work diligently, vote and pray, we may see Him also deliver us from the statist Raphael Warnock on December 6th.

Among my family and friends, one of the ways we love to give thanks when God providentially deposes tyrants, to help us and to protect the innocent, is by practicing an old American tradition known as joyfully singing about the defeat of such tyrants by the hand of God. An example is an old tune popular during the War for American Independence in the 1770s known as the Chester hymn. You can hear the music here and join in singing with us, if you like. (It would be delightful to hear ballads written about the defeat of similar tyrants in our day.) These are the verses:
The sheet music for "Chester"
Let tyrants shake their iron rod,
And Slav'ry clank her galling chains,
We fear them not, we trust in God,
New England's God forever reigns.

Howe and Burgoyne and Clinton too,
With Prescot and Cornwallis join'd,
Together plot our Overthrow,
In one Infernal league combin'd.

When God inspir'd us for the fight,
Their ranks were broke, their lines were forc'd,
Their ships were Shatter'd in our sight,
Or swiftly driven from our Coast.

The Foe comes on with haughty Stride;
Our troops advance with martial noise,
Their Vet'rans flee before our Youth,
And Gen'rals yield to beardless Boys.

What grateful Off'ring shall we bring?
What shall we render to the Lord?
Loud Halleluiahs let us Sing,
And praise his name on ev'ry Chord.
In addition to the the blessing of the defeat of tyrants in our day, we are grateful for each of you principled, hard-working Republicans in the grassroots! So many of you gave of yourselves in the recent election, and we owe you a debt of gratitude. We are thankful that Georgia has not flipped blue completely yet, and that we still have the opportunity to provide an important check on the Democrats in Washington with our up-coming December 6th Runoff. But we are especially grateful that we all enjoy the legacy of freedom and prosperity that is unique to the United States of America.
This year is the 401st anniversary of the first celebration of Thanksgiving held in America by the Pilgrim fathers who founded Plymouth. Although there is a growing mindset in some circles to return to the same basic type of Big Government statism that these Pilgrim fathers fled Europe to escape (at great hardship), and that our founding fathers "gave their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor" to rid, we embrace this freedom.
As our founders acknowledged, our freedoms do not come from civil government, but from "the laws of nature and of nature's God," as they proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence. Civil government thus may not morally and practically operate in a way in conflict with nature nor with the God who designed nature.

This truth is a key aspect in the history of the Thanksgiving celebration in our country, and the basis for our rights as a free people.
It was this foundation which eventually led the Pilgrim fathers to start the American tradition of rejecting Communism, a story you can read about here. They came to see that approach, which had earlier been advocated by Plato and later revived by Karl Marx, as an impractical and immoral violation of the transcendent principles given by God: "Thou shalt not steal" and "Thou shalt not covet."
Karl Marx
Socialism and corporate cronyism are likewise violations of that same moral command against coveting and stealing, and good Americans who desire to honor God and who love the legacy of liberty in America should unite in standing against these harmful policies.
That brings us to this little known fact: We hear much about "the separation between church and state" today, and there is much confusion. Congress first passed the Bill of Rights, which included the First Amendment and its guarantee against Congress setting up an established state-church, such as England has, on September 25, 1789. But do you know what Congress did just three days after this vote?
On September 28, 1789, this same Congress voted to pass a resolution asking President George Washington to proclaim November 26th "a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God." President Washington responded by issuing this proclamation on October 3, 1789:
"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor —and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me 'to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.'

"Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be —That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks— for His kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation  for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of His Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war—for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed—for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted—for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

"And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions —to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually—to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed—to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord—To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us—and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

"Given under my hand at the City of New-York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

How grateful we are for the stand of our founding fathers in this way! Only by continuing upon their foundation can we hope to preserve the prosperity and freedom we have inherited from them and build upon it to even greater heights.
The Cobb County Republican Assembly (Cobb RA) is a local chapter of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA), as well as the Georgia Republican Assembly (GRA). Republican Assemblies have organized around the nation since 1935, and the national entity was founded in 1996. Described as "the Republican Wing of the Republican Party," the Republican Assemblies have worked to mobilize and ensure people who truly reflect the stated principles of the GOP get elected to civil office and to prevent those who do not. Ronald Reagan once said, "The best symbol of the grassroots worker I can think of is the Republican Assembly ... The Republican Assemblies are the conscience of the Republican Party."
