A Very Special Bulletin & Community Update

We are excited to share some news with you about the future of the Greater New Bedford Jewish community. At the end of this fiscal year, June 30th, the Jewish Federation of Greater New Bedford (JFGNB) will join Boston’s Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) as Boston welcomes New Bedford into its catchment and management area, assuming responsibility for the continued success of the Jewish community.

Over the past few months, the JFGNB board has worked tirelessly with CJP to ensure the continued vibrancy of the Greater New Bedford Jewish community. Joining CJP will allow those of us in Greater New Bedford to access many new resources, such as CJP’s programs, grant pools, Community Security Initiative, Jewishboston.com, leadership development, and more. It will also enable our community to continue to thrive and have an even bigger philanthropic impact across the region and in Israel.

Rabbi Marc Baker, President & CEO of CJP, has shared his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to welcome the Greater New Bedford community into the Greater Boston Jewish family. Our community is built on belonging — on showing up for one another, leaning into relationships, and sharing responsibility for our collective future. This is an exciting moment and I'm grateful we are taking this next step together.”

Amir Cohen, Executive Director, JFGNB, added, “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve the Greater New Bedford Jewish community. In CJP, we have found an organization that shares our values and will enable our community to continue to thrive."

Shabbat Shalom and Am Israel Chai,

Amir
