Dear Friends and Members of Shadow Rock,
I retire with intense feelings of gratitude for who you are and who you have been to me and my family. Thank you for the opportunity to serve and share in our spiritual journey together. In my trial sermon, I said one way or the other, you will tell me to take a hike. It would either be with you or without you. I am glad you voted for us to walk together for the past 18 years.
As I leave, I want to highlight that you are a wonderful congregation. You are smart, caring, mature, and funny. Your capacity to face the uncertainty of the future with hope, playfulness, and vision is unmatched by any other congregation I have served. Life has thrown us some challenges, but we have overcome them together, and you will continue to do so.
Our Covenant states that we are a people intentionally pointed to the future. It is not easy to be oriented toward tomorrow or to live at the point of the Wedgeblade. Create seasons of grace and rest so you can pick up the Cross and the Wedgeblade again for the most vulnerable people and the next generation. Yours is an important and joyful calling, and it will inspire your next spiritual leader as it has inspired me.
These are the times, and you are the people. I have no doubt about the truth of this. Again, thank you for everything, and God bless you!
Peace!
Pastor Ken
