September 2018
Dear IUSD Community,

Welcome back to the start of the 2018-19 school year at the Inglewood Unified School District! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are recharged and ready for another year. We are very excited for our scholars, families, and the Inglewood community to be joining us back in our classrooms. In anticipation for this start of school, our teachers, administrators, and staff members have been working tirelessly to prepare our campuses. From decorating classrooms to finalizing lesson plans, the district has been buzzing with energy and excitement for this moment. The first days of school have already been quite a success and have been a wonderful way to set the tone for the rest of the year. We are looking forward to continuing this momentum as we build and grow throughout the school year.

Many of you may have noticed some changes to our campuses over the summer. We strongly encourage all families to attend Back-to-School Night to visit with your child’s teachers as well as tour our campus. In addition to the many new faces of scholars joining our classes, we also have some new teachers, principals, and staff members that we are welcoming to our learning community. This is a wonderful time to catch up with your child’s former educators, as well as meet their newest teachers.
If you’ve had a chance to drive around the district this summer, you may have observed some construction. Our facilities team has been working hard on many projects including construction at our new Woodworth/Monroe campus as well as a renovated playground at Centinela Elementary. As we continue with these projects, we will be sharing our progress with you.

We are looking forward to partnering with you over the course of the next year and beyond. This year we have three themes we are incorporating district wide. First, striving for excellence in all that we do inside and outside the classroom. Second, encourage collaboration and partnerships with peers in all areas. And third, building behaviors that promote wellness. With our minds trained towards excellence, we will work together to find collaborative solutions that promote wellness, balance, and support so that we can perform at our best.

As we begin the school year, I want to thank everyone for being a part of this learning community and for helping prepare for the year. This is the result of the work of our entire community, and I am looking forward to the many more partnership opportunities that lay ahead.
