A Word from our Producer - Ed Elbert

Dear Friends,

My name is Ed Elbert, and it is a pleasure to introduce myself to you as the producer of THE HEALER, the first film to come from A Brighter World, Inc. (ABW).

My background is both as a producer and a marketing executive. I've produced 12 films in the last 24 years, some big ones like the Oscar nominated ANNA AND THE KING starring Jody Foster, some small ones, and some in between, such as TAKE DOWN, a thriller that was written by Sandy Ignon who has also written THE HEALER, which we shot last year in Wales and on the Isle of Man in partnership with Pinewood Studios, the biggest studio in the U.K. We are completing "post-production" on that film this month. I've also been a distribution executive on films as small as - well, too small for you to have ever heard of - and as prominent as STAR WARS.

Of course we still have to raise the funding for the production and distribution of THE HEALER, but some funding is already in place and I have a great deal of confidence that the ABW team, especially given its most recent additions, will succeed.

My task as producer is to develop and assemble the creative elements - the screenplay, the production team (director, heads of departments) and cast, and organize and supervise the production itself, and thereafter the distribution.

Since our goal is to have a first rate team, especially the cast, we are somewhat limited in what we can do ahead of the fund-raising, because in order to compete for the very best and most impactful actors, we have to be able to show that we are in a position to move forward into production. However there is much for us to be doing in the interim, including refining the screenplay, developing the necessary casting lists with our top casting directors, reviewing possible locations and developing the budget, and exploring and developing an innovative release strategy that mixes traditional theatrical elements with techniques derived from films using affinity group strategies.

Our "wish list" of actresses for the role of Mary Baker Eddy, an actress who with skilled makeup, will be able to range in age from her 40s to her 80s, includes some 40+ actresses all of whom have received or been nominated for the top awards that actresses can hope to achieve - Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes. As actresses get older, they are unfortunately less interesting to an industry that caters to the youth audience as the motion picture industry does. That has a positive impact for us, however, in that most actresses over the age of 45 who are not only household names but creative icons would welcome a meaningful role in a lower budget independent film such as ours.

This is an exciting journey. I'm enjoying every minute of it. I look forward to updating you periodically on our progress from a development and production standpoint.

Sincerely,

Ed Elbert
