Johnny Cash's Way of Defining Grace

"I confess right up front that I’m the biggest sinner of them all. But my faith in God has always been a solid rock that I’ve stood on, no matter where I was or what I was doing. I was a bad boy at times, but God was always there for me, and I knew that. I guess maybe I took advantage of that."

Special Sermon Series: The Soundtrack of Faith

During the month of August, Chris Currie is giving a sermon series related to music and faith, but in particular how these artists have shaped his faith through their songwriting, lyrics, and unique sound.

This Sunday, August 16, we will return to two services at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel and 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Come out for donuts in Frampton Fellowship Hall following each service!

Find Your Fit at SCAPC!

Want to meet new people and give back to the community? Join us in Frampton Fellowship Hall on Sunday, August 23 following the 8:30 and 10:30 morning services for “Find Your Fit” where SCAPC groups and committees will be available to answer questions and provide upcoming event sign-ups. There's a fit for everyone!

David LaMotte to Speak & Perform at SCAPC

On Sunday, August 30, songwriter/speaker/author David LaMotte will visit SCAPC for a day of learning and music! He will lead a Sunday School class, "Which Kind of Love", at 9:30 a.m. and give a concert at 5 p.m., both in Frampton Fellowship Hall. David has performed his folk music at over 3000 concerts in all 50 states as well as abroad. He has spoken to the Presbyterian Church (USA) Mission to the United Stations and at peace conferences in India, Australia, Germany, and the Scottish Parliament. We are delighted to welcome him to our community!

Mo-Ranch Disaster Recovery Trip

Interested? Fill Out Our Survey

Assisting communities in need following natural disasters has long been central our church’s mission and identity. From Super Storm Sandy to Nashville and western North Carolina flooding and well beyond, SCAPC members have never failed to answer the call from communities in-need. Now, SCAPC’s Disaster Recovery Team is planning a fall 2026 return trip to Mo-Ranch to help with recovery efforts underway in the Hill Country in response to the latest devastating floods to impact that area.

Our Disaster Recovery Team welcomes all those interested in helping Mo-Ranch on its “long road to recovery”! Historically, these trips have provided members of our congregation with intensely rewarding bonding experiences, while serving others as they have served us in the past. Please fill out the survey at scapc.org/rebuild to help us decide on the best weekend for a trip this fall. All volunteers age 16+ are welcome.

This year's event will be on Sunday, August 16 at noon and will feature a fundraiser raffle, live music, arts market, food trucks, and auction. The auction receipts will go to the STAIR program (Start the Adventure in Reading), which is one of SCAPC's community ministry partners and is housed in our Land Building. Seeing God All Over the World

Thank you to all who have sent us postcards sharing where you've seen God this summer! Send us a postcard or bring one to church to let us know where you've been moved by the spirit. We are sharing them on the bulletin board in Frampton Fellowship Hall. Here are a couple we received this week:

The Weiser family wrote:

"Our family has spent a week exploring and relaxing in the Georgia mountains, visiting multiple lovely towns, riding a scenic train, and hiking. We have found peace in God's presence rocking on our cabin's porch overlooking a valley, listening to the wildlife greeting the day, and experiencing multiple encounters with black bears. We stood in awe of his mighty power at the base of a 150' waterfall we hiked to, cresting over rocky terrain. What a gift it is to be able to set aside time to enjoy being together as a family!"

Chales Hadley wrote of his time in Innsbruck, Austria:

"It's not Scotland, but it sure is a beautiful place to be in a hot New Orleans summer. On a walk on a mountain trail you will often run into religious memorials, even stations of the cross. I am staying in a former Jesuit seminary so I'm surrounded with religion."

Patrick Egan wrote:

"Liam and I attended church at St. Giles in Edinburgh this past Sunday. The 'mother-ship' is beautiful, and a choir from Essex joined the St. Giles choir for a powerful service. Afterwards we enjoyed tea and biscuits with some of the church members - reminded me of Fellowship Hall! We didn't stay too long - they had their annual report meeting :-)."

The O'Keefe's wrote of their time at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park:

"How can we keep ourselves from singing!"
