Skål Candidacy Letter / President of Skål USA 2021 David Ryan, CTC Skål International Sacramento
To Fellow Skålleagues:
I am seeking the position of President of Skål USA for 2021. I have been an active member and Officer of Skål International Sacramento since 2000. I am very passionate about Skål and have served as President of my Club 3 different times as well as holding various other Board positions on the local level.
To say that this year was challenging is the understatement of the century. In spite of all these challenges Skål USA has many things to be very proud of having accomplished this year including:
* Adding over 140 new members
* Executive webinar series which has featured some of the most respected Executives in our industry. Speakers included Peter Greenberg, Roger Dow, Chris Thompson and Anthony Melchiorri and many others.
* Signed partnership agreement with UATP to provide deeply discounted travel insurance for Skål members.
* Hospitality Strong Relief Fund in partnership with Anthony Melchiorri where we have raised over $10,500 and distributed these funds to hospitality workers who are in dire financial straits.
Next year promises to be even more challenging as our membership retention efforts will be tested like never before. We have come up with a program for financial assistance on dues for those who need help but even with this Clubs will need to be very proactive to retain their membership in 2021. I believe that Skål membership right now is more important than ever during this pandemic. The connections and network of Skål worldwide is an invaluable resource to members that is not available in any other organization in the travel industry.
I would like to ask for your support as I run for a 2nd term and I firmly believe that with the help of our incredible Executive Committee of Skål USA that we can prosper in 2021 and grow membership further and even start new Clubs. This year did not go as planned but we accomplished some great things and will continue to do so in 2021. Thank you.
