Dear Fellow Skålleagues,
I am writing to respectfully ask for your vote for the position of President for SKÅL USA. As your current Vice President of Administration, I have focused on working with the current Executive Committee and President Burcin Turkkan on streamlining processes and procedures in order to make the "behind the scenes" administration duties of our club easier for those who serve in the future. I have also overseen recent revisions to our Bylaws as well as our Manual of Instruction (MOI) to ensure they are not only up to date, but more importantly, reflect the power entrusted to us by our membership.
As you can see from my professional resume, I have executive management and finance/budgeting experience working with multi-national corporations within the travel and travel insurance industries. As SKÅL USA President, I will use these professional skills to focus on our core initiatives and work with your Executive Committee to grow and retain membership, control costs and provide additional benefits to your membership.
I have been a member of SKÅL New York since 2003, quickly joining the Board of Directors, and working my way up through the chairs to President. During my board tenure, I implemented and streamlined several new initiatives to modernize our club including online payments for meetings, a new website, social media campaigns on Facebook and Linkedin, implementing QuickBooks to better monitor and audit our finances, and a NY SKÅL Board Reorganization. I currently serve on the SKÅL New York Leadership Committee.
The highlight of my SKÅL New York President tenure was organizing one of the most successful SKÅL World Congresses (the first on a cruise ship!) in recent history, with over 1,100 participants. During this time (and the other World Congresses I've attended), I was able to meet and become friends with Sk
å
lleagues around the world, including members of the SKÅL International Executive Committee. I will use these connections to advocate for SKÅL USA members on the global stage.
I am also currently serving on the 2019 SKÅL World Congress Committee and will use my past experience to ensure SKÅL Miami hosts the most successful World Congress in years.
SKÅL International USA faces a tough road ahead. I believe we need to continue the new vision guided by our revised bylaws, to continue to find value for current and future members and clubs, as well as become a modern organization recognized throughout travel and tourism as a trusted voice in the industry.
