"DREAM BIG"
The past few months the traffic has been so heavy on the main boulevard in my area that gridlock has become the new normal. As I was stuck in this slow pace of traffic yesterday, I remembered a prophetic dream that I had several years ago. When I got home I looked it up in my dream journal.
In the dream I was driving alone at night on a highway with heavy traffic. I called a friend from my mobile phone and said: “I’m just going to turn back and go home”. As soon as I said that, the traffic parted like the Red Sea and there was a clear road ahead of me. I said to my friend, “If I turned back I would have lost everything that I was destined for”. The dream then went to another scene where I was sitting down at a table eating dinner with friends
When I woke up I knew that it was a dream from the Lord to encourage me not to turn back from what He’s called me to do. When we follow the leading of The Holy Spirit, He will remove every obstacle in our way to get us to our destination. It may not always be easy, but it will be worth it because if we are faithful and persistent, we will emerge stronger and more victorious than we were before. When we press on, trusting His plan, we’ll fulfill the purpose that He has ordained for us.
The Lord is showing me that some of you made wrong decisions in your lives but the problem is that you are continuing to rehearse the thoughts in your mind. You need to forget the past so that Jesus could bring healing and restoration. Your life will move in the direction of your most dominant thought. If you continue to look back, eventually you will go in that direction. You’ll never receive a breakthrough if you keep entertaining thoughts of things and times that no longer exist.
I heard a message one time about dwelling on the past. People try to revisit their past in their thoughts to keep it alive. That’s like trying to put a corpse on life support. They are trying to resuscitate something that is already dead. If you don’t let the past go, you are siphoning life from yourself to sustain a lifeless thing. A corpse, devoid of a spirit, has no use in the Kingdom of God. The bad memories need to be buried once and for all, never to be resurrected.
You might be nostalgic for the past, good or bad because it’s familiar territory, but often this nostalgia stems from being uncertain about your future. You may not have a clear vision of what’s ahead so you are trying to keep that old world alive. You have to understand that Satan will try to keep you tied down so you can’t move forward and pursue what God’s created you to do. Satan can’t access your future, so he will try to anchor you to your past, forcing you to relive old hurts and pains.
Another time the Lord showed me an analogy of someone driving a car and constantly looking into their rear view mirror. It’s great to use the rear view mirror to glace back to see how far you’ve come, but if you stare too long you will not see what is right in front of you, or miss your turn. Rear view mirrors are used for clearance and blind spots when changing lanes, but if you continually look in the rear view mirror, you will eventually crash. This is one of the reasons why many of you are not advancing spiritually.
Tear down the strongholds in your mind that are hindering you from moving ahead. Break the shackles of the old ways of life. You must change the patterns of your thought life if you want to tune in to the frequencies of heaven. Shift your thinking to embrace the bigger vision. By doing this you can tap into the power and promise of your future. The Lord wants you to upgrade your self-image so you will no longer see yourself as the person who you once were. He wants to renew your way of thinking into the image of how Jesus sees you.
Don’t be afraid of change, but allow Him to transform you into the new wineskin that’s prepared for the new wine. Remember where He has brought you from, but walk in the newness that He is bringing you into. Don’t look back at the person that you once were but look unto the promises and the provisions that the Lord has for you. It’s time to "DREAM BIG"
Luke 9:62
But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
Philippians 3:7-8
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
