Party like it's 1905!
All of us here at KlezCalifornia wish you a joyous 2019.

Take a minute to listen to The Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus sing
Auld Lang Syne in Yiddish.

Our big news for the upcoming year is we've been awarded a grant to expand our already fabulous Klezmer Workshop series. In addition to our East Bay and SF locations, we are planning more offerings throughout the Bay Area, such as Sonoma County, Santa Clara County, and possibly Santa Cruz.

In 2018, we brought you workshops like The Nign: Subway to Paradise; Cracking the Code: The Fun Way to Practice; and  The Sheet Music is Lying: How to Interpret Written Klezmer. The 2019 workshops are still in the planning stages, but you'll hear from us soon with details. Be sure to sign up for our Workshop and Jams email list to get the full scoop!

Our deepest appreciation to the Alliance for California Traditional Arts for the grant to support this work!

P.S. Your passion for Yiddish culture makes KlezCalifornia possible! If you have not yet made a gift this year, please do so before midnight tonight!

Zero Mostel
Zero Mostel  (the original Tevye on Broadway in "Fiddler on the Roof") sings the Yiddish song, "With a Needle, Without a Needle" on television in 1962 in a rare television appearance. Read about Mostel's interesting career as well.

Ketseleh, S'brent der Frost - The classic American song, "Baby It's Cold Outside," has come under fire recently as perhaps describing attempted date rape. KlezCalifornia doesn't have an opinion, but we do want to show you that both good and bad can be expressed in Yiddish. With English subtitles.
