Seasons Greetings To All!
IS YOUR DRIVEWAY ADEQUATELY CLEARED OF SNOW?

With snow depths rapidly increasing, residents and property owners are reminded that to be in compliance with Chapter 8 - Emergency Vehicles Access, St. Germain Code of Ordinances , private roads and driveways must be kept clear of snow to a minimum width of 14 feet to enable access by emergency vehicles.

Please keep this in mind as the winter progresses. Review the ordinance for more details.
NEW PROCEDURES FOR ACCESSING AND
USING TOWN PARKS AND BUILDINGS

Following the installation of new security locks on some town buildings, the town board recently adopted Chapter 17 - Community Parks & Buildings Usage, St. Germain Code of Ordinances which includes revised procedures and updated fees for public use of town properties.

All of this is explained on the Public Use of Town Facilities page of the town website. Please review this if you are in possession of a key or digital access code for a town building or if you need to reserve space in a town building for an upcoming event.
WILL OAK WILT KILL
ST. GERMAIN'S OAK TREES?

The town board recently received an advisory from the Conover, WI based "Partners in Forestry Co-op" concerning the threat of oak wilt disease to oak trees in Vilas County and what towns can do to slow the spread of this epidemic.

Oak wilt was first discovered in southern WI in 1944 and has been expanding northward since. An infected tree was found in the Town of Conover this fall. That tree is believed to have been injured by a road crew resulting in the disease affecting the tree.

The St. Germain Public Works Department crew will be advised to avoid trimming oak trees from mid-April through mid-July of each year and to apply paint to any fresh wound if inadvertent tree damage occurs. Private property owners are encouraged to familiarize themselves with preventive practices prior to the arrival of spring.

More information is available from the WI Department of Natural Resources Oak Wilt website page .
Your Town Board extends its best wishes for a happy
and safe holiday season!
