Happy New Year!

As cheesy as it can be, I love the fresh start of a new calendar year! All too often, this time is used for marketing and selling ways to "change your life", tips and tricks that lead to feelings of failure and disappointment. I prefer to take the new year as a time to reflect on gratitude, growth, surprises, and the season of life and faith I find myself in. This beautiful song has been speaking to me lately as I try to have patience and grace throughout the journey.

We have a lot growing in Student Ministries this year as well! This week is our first week launching Intersect Middle and Intersect High, as we seek to offer weekly distinct, age-appropriate content and community for our students. Read more about what they'll be doing this week below.

We also have our Confirmation Retreat this weekend, with a group of 45 high schoolers, parents, and mentors traveling to Mar-Lu Ridge to share personal stories and blessings, look at how the Bible connects to our journeys, gather around the campfire and table, and build community across generations. It is sure to be an incredible weekend! Please pray for our group; you can find the Confirmands' names below.

I am excited to continue to grow with our students and families this year!

Get Connected
Become a Small Group Leader!
When I was a High School student in the Youth Program, being a part of a Girls' Circle (Tuesday nights, 7pm at Starbucks!) was incredibly formational. I formed deep friendships with the other girls and our mentor, and we are still very connected years later!

We want to create that opportunity for our students today! This commitment is only about 3 hours a month in the evenings, and leads to transforming students' lives.

Please email Erin with questions.
This Sunday at Intersect...
Intersect Middle has students from at least 7 local middle schools! This week, we'll be playing a few games to get to know each other beyond our usual "name, grade, & school" introductions and discussing how Jesus's example of unlimited welcome leads us to breaking out of arbitrary groups and cliches, and building community!

Intersect High will be discussing what society's expectations of a "New Year, New You" entail, versus the promise of new life and continued growth Jesus offers. Students will write letters to their future selves as they dream big for 2019!
Intersect Middle meets Sundays at 10 in the Discipleship Room. Intersect High meets Sundays at 10 in the Ryan Chapel. Breakfast snacks are provided!

If you are interest in serving as an Intersect Mentor one Sunday per month, please email Erin
The Pittsburgh Project-
July 15-19, 2019
The Pittsburgh Project is an incredible service opportunity for our youth to develop student leaderships and build relationships with Pittsburgh's vulnerable homeowners as they spend a week working on home repair projects! This trip is the highlight of the summer!
Rising 6th graders through rising 12th graders are welcome. Register here and email Erin with questions.
