In 2022, the Wayuu Taya Foundation significantly impacted vulnerable communities in Venezuela, assisting more than 102,495 people through our various programs. |
Humanitarian Aid
Our ACCESO food program benefited 148 communities, 62 schools, 58 institutions, and NGOs. We received 151,949 kilograms of vegetables and served over 660,487 plates of food, helping more than 8,467 children weekly in schools and benefiting over 60,000 people since the program began. The acquisition of a Ford 350 cargo truck in July, made possible with the support of World Central Kitchen, allowed us to easily transport vegetables, fruits, and grains from ACCESO in Colombia twice a week.

Health
We received 4,834 tons of medicines and supplies, benefiting 26,028 people across the country. We also provided care in various areas of general medicine through health workshops. We continued to support foundations like FAMAC (Fundación amigos de la Mujer con Cáncer de Mama) with medication for 400 people needing cancer treatment. Additionally, we distributed 12,000 kilograms of dentistry and general hygiene supplies, donated by Colgate Palmolive - Venezuela, to strengthen our operations in schools and promote oral hygiene.

Floods
We provided medical supplies to over 500 families in Las Tejerías, affected by Hurricane Huila, and over 1,000 people in Sinamaica, affected by floods. We also assisted with medicine and supplies in other flood-affected areas, including Northeastern Aragua, La Ladera, and El Limón.

Water for All
The operation of our "Water for All" program increased thanks to the donation of a new tanker truck. We continued to sell water in the North Region of Maracaibo and donate to hospitals, schools, health centers, elderly centers, and other foundations, benefiting 8,671 people.

Agriculture
Our agricultural plan for the Apüna and Mirabello farms continued to progress. To date, we have produced 2,093.6 kilograms of food suitable for local marketing and have started planting paprika and tomatoes using the short-cycle bio-intensive model.

Infrastructure
We completed the conditioning and improvement of classroom spaces at the Tepichi Talashi school, which can now serve over 400 children. We are also working on a new bathroom module for elementary students and restoring the school's recreational area.

Education
Currently, 797 children at the Tepichi Talashi and Jesús Redentor Schools receive ancestral music classes to preserve the tradition and cultural heritage of the Wayuu people. We also introduced the Intercultural Orchestra Program "Nucleo Wayuu Taya," carried out with the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela for 314 children and over 100 on the waiting list.
