2024 has been a year of growth and innovation for us. We've had the pleasure of designing and building a wide array of new equipment, with a particular focus on sensory and inclusive play, and working with schools across the country, transforming outdoor spaces into vibrant and engaging playgrounds and playspaces.

It's been incredibly rewarding for us to bring new and upgraded playgrounds to life, and seeing the smiles on kids' faces. As we wind down 2024, we're excited to showcase some of our favorite projects below.

Rowandale School

Rowandale proves that great things can come in small packages! This playspace was thoughtfully designed to provide engaging sensory stimulation for children who might feel overwhelmed in larger, busier playgrounds.

To cater to a wide range of abilities, the space incorporates sensory tactile panels, Sign Language and Communication Boards, as well as cause-and-effect and social interaction panels. Ground-level play elements, such as paths and footprints, guide users through the half-spheres, climbing structures, and Rockskate, adding a playful touch of colour and cohesion to the area.

Rangeview Intermediate School

Rangeview Intermediate School faced a significant challenge when Principal Jesmond arrived to discover a complete absence of a playground. Recognising the crucial role of play in a child's development, even at this age, he envisioned a space that would both challenge students and provide a space to relax and socialise.

The playground we installed has brought his vision to life, becoming a popular destination for students during lunch breaks and after school. With a combination of traditional play elements and more fitness-oriented features like the Balance Bars, Olympus Cliff Hanger, and Olympus Steps, the playground offers a variety of ways to play and enjoy the space.

Sir Keith Park School

This once-uninspiring concrete courtyard has been revitalised into a dynamic, inclusive playspace!

Despite its compact size, the equipment offers a wealth of play experiences, including spinning, sensory exploration, and climbing challenges suitable for all abilities. The climbing Boulders provide a prime spot for social interaction and observation. The design is inclusive, allowing users with mobility devices to play under the rope structure, access all sensory play panels, and even join in the fun inside the Orion Spinner through a transfer hole in the rope netting. The playful wet pour safety surfacing adds a vibrant touch, helps reduce noise, and creates a welcoming atmosphere.

Lincoln Heights School

We pulled out all the stops for Lincoln Heights School this year!

The Log Jam harmonises beautifully with its natural surroundings, nestled among the pohutukawa trees. Offering an alternative to traditional playgrounds, the scattered logs, ropes, and beams encourage unstructured, imaginative play. This natural play environment provides a range of challenges and opportunities for developing gross motor skills. We love this natural aesthetic!

Building on the existing Pirate Ship sandpit, we expanded the theming with vibrant colors, imaginative equipment, and patterned surfaces. This cohesive design creates a fun and engaging playspace for all. The playground offers a variety of play experiences, including movement, topography, sensory, and accessible play elements, like the Inclusive Spinner.

The popular tube slide and tower structure brings excitement and fun to the Senior Playground. With multiple ways to reach the 2.7-metre-high deck, children of all ages can participate and feel a sense of accomplishment. The custom routering to the whare roof adds a unique touch, allowing for a deeper connection to the school community.

The Taniwha Swing offers a unique and engaging play experience. Unlike traditional swings, this sideways swinging rope allows children to sit, lie, or stand while swinging solo or with friends. This versatility caters to all abilities, providing either a calming, gentle motion or an exhilarating, full-force experience. It's a fantastic way to encourage both social interaction and physical activity!

Scott Point School

Scott Point School, a primary school encompassing Years 1 to 8, previously restricted older students from younger children's playgrounds. To address this, the Principal envisioned a dedicated space that would cater to all ages. The new playground, with its central structure, challenging obstacles, and popular Lilypad Swing, has become a vibrant hub for students to connect, play, and relax under the shade.

Sunnynook Primary School

Sunnynook Primary School embarked on a collaborative playground project with us, actively involving students in every stage of the design process. From initial brainstorming to the final installation, students surveyed their peers and considered various playground elements to create a design that reflected their preferences and needs.

The new playground, featuring a Whare Fort, climbing panels, gladiator rings, and Orex Spinner, has become a popular spot for students of all ages. This successful collaboration has not only provided a new playground but also empowered students to take ownership of their environment. It was an incredible experience to work on such a fun project!

Seventh Day Adventist School South Auckland

The 7-metre-tall Sky Climber at the Seventh Day Adventist School in South Auckland offers a thrilling climbing experience for everyone. Its spacious design allows multiple children to climb together, each at their own pace. The integrated internal nets provide cozy nooks for kids to rest and socialise, which really enhances the play value.

The more traditional playground features a customised version of the popular Mega Loop unit. Its whare-style tower and diverse play elements offer challenges suitable for various skill levels and promote gross motor development.
