We are pleased to report that our new initiatives and staff additions have proven to be highly successful and productive alongside our existing programs.

Our new satellite office in south Florida, under the direction of Rochel Zoldan, is up and running. An experienced physical therapist, Rochel has begun to address the comprehensive needs of brain injury, stroke and spinal injury survivors in south Florida. She continues to visit local facilities and therapy centers in order to expand our referral network.

The addition of Leah Horowitz as our insurance specialist has proven most valuable to clients dealing with the ever-changing and increasingly complicated world of insurance and entitlements. Leah has extensive experience with healthcare billing and has already undertaken a great deal of research and training in her new position. With her help, we will be able to comprehensively address the critical area of benefits and coverage.

Avi Krakauer, our new Director of Development, has already run several fundraising events for BINA and is busy ensuring that Axon 2024 will be a huge success. With his talent and experience, Avi has "hit the ground running". With his help, we will secure the necessary funding to support our exponential growth.

A series of webinars has been hosted by BINA for the community at large, presented by leading specialists in a variety of fields.

The next webinar is planned for January 17th at 8:00 pm and will be presented by renowned brain injury and concussion expert Dr. Nathan Zasler on "Concussive Brain Injury: Clinical Caveats and Interventions to Optimize Outcome." Dr. Zasler is founder and CEO of the Concussion Care Centre of Virginia; Medical Director, Tree of Life; and Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. BINA is pleased to offer a monthly Zoom meeting for families recently affected by a stroke, TBI or spinal injury. The meeting takes place on the first Wednesday of every month and is hosted by Elchanan Schwarz LMHC, BINA's Director of Crisis Intervention and Crisis Support.

The meeting provides an educational overview of brain injury and what to expect during the recovery and rehabilitation process. A Q&A will follow the presentation.

Registration is required; all close family members (18 and up) are welcome.

Axon 2023, a first-of-its-kind networking opportunity for the healthcare and rehabilitation space, took place in March at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey. Several hundred industry leaders and decision makers including nursing home operators, business owners and representatives of leading non-profits, hospitals and insurance carriers packed the beautifully decorated hall for a highly enjoyable evening of delicious food, elegant décor and great music. The crowd lingered long past the closing time to continue meeting and chatting with old and new friends and take every advantage of the invaluable networking opportunities.

Hundreds of people flocked to the Palace Hall in Brooklyn in May to attend the BX23 Rehabilitation and Disability Expo. Several dozen vendors participated, some of whom traveled from out of state to attend, representing a broad and comprehensive range of pediatric and adult rehab facilities, therapy centers, providers, companies, agencies and organizations from the world of brain injury, stroke, spinal injury and other areas of disability and rehabilitation.

As at past expos, a special Research and Clinical Trials section offered attendees a rare opportunity to speak directly to scientists and researchers from leading facilities about cutting edge treatments and therapies. The research section proved to be immensely popular, with people waiting their turn to speak to representatives from the Kessler Foundation, New York Presbyterian, Mount Sinai, and other prestigious centers at the forefront of the latest advances in their fields.

Individuals with disabilities, family members and professionals were eager to take advantage of every possible opportunity to learn from and converse with physicians, therapists, facility representatives and experts in a variety of fields who participated on behalf of top acute, sub-acute, LTAC, and specialized outpatient and therapy centers. Information was available regarding law and insurance, vision and cognitive therapy, devices, home care, communication and technology, as well as home and vehicle accessibility and driver rehabilitation.

The positive feedback from participants was shared by exhibitors who were highly impressed both with expo's professional quality and the huge turnout of engaged and educated attendees. The vendors commented on the keen interest and sophisticated questions of the many individuals who visited their exhibits to learn about their products and services. Both vendors and attendees eagerly await an even bigger and better BX25!

Our final fundraising event of the year hosted by BINA's Five Town Committee took place in Lawrence. Friends and supporters of BINA enjoyed a beautiful evening and were honored to be addressed by Rabbi Yaakov Bender of Yeshiva Darchei Torah.



The event capped off a year of support and partnership including "See the Unseen", a crowdfunding campaign in the summer featuring events in Jackson and Monsey.
