A Letter from Rob Lindo, Outgoing Board Chair

Dear Chamber Members and Community of Commerce,

As we conclude another remarkable year, I am honored to reflect on the accomplishments of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, our members, and the broader business community.

The Chamber experienced many successes this year, but one highlight for many members was our annual BBQ at History Park. Bringing together more than 850 business leaders, the event exemplified the power of connection and our shared commitment to advancing commerce in the region. I have attended this BBQ each year I have lived in San Jose, and I am already looking forward to our 2026 BBQ.

In September, our annual Study Mission convened in Atlanta, where we examined how intentional investment and placemaking can catalyze economic growth. We explored transformative projects such as the Atlanta BeltLine, the adaptive reuse success of Ponce City Market, and the deployment of digital wayfinding kiosks with Orange Barrel Media. We met with Cobb County and the Atlanta Braves to understand the development of The Battery, the most successful sport-anchored entertainment district in the U.S., bringing $577M to Cobb County’s property tax rolls. These examples reinforced how infrastructure, technology, public-private partnerships and experience-driven development can activate neighborhoods and support local businesses.

A central focus of our work, locally and through the Study Mission, has been the growing importance of our regional sports and entertainment economy. Looking ahead, the SJ2026 initiative represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our region. With the Super Bowl, the FIFA World Cup, and NCAA March Madness converging in San Jose, our city has a powerful platform to elevate its regional and global relevance as a sports and entertainment powerhouse. These events are not merely moments on a calendar; they are catalysts for investment, tourism, job creation, and long-term economic positioning. The Chamber is committed to helping our business community prepare to benefit from this historic moment.

As we look forward to 2026, we will also celebrate an extraordinary milestone: the San Jose Chamber’s 140th anniversary. This is both a moment to honor our legacy and a critical opportunity to cement the Chamber’s future by strengthening our advocacy, expanding our reach, and ensuring we remain a vital force in business leadership for decades to come. That future depends on a strong and growing Chamber membership. We encourage you to share the Chamber’s value with businesses you believe could benefit from our advocacy, influence, and collective voice. You ensure the Chamber remains representative, resilient, and effective.

One of the most meaningful ways we recognize leadership and impact is through our Annual Leaders & Legacy Fundraising Dinner, where we honor outstanding businesses and individuals while investing directly in the Chamber’s future. We look forward to celebrating with you on February 26, 2026.

To the Board of Directors, many thanks for your continued engagement, counsel, and leadership. I also extend my sincere appreciation to our President & CEO, Leah Toeniskoetter, for her exceptional leadership, and to our Chair-Elect, Ed Davis, for his dedication and commitment. Their collective efforts have been central to our success and will continue to propel the Chamber forward.

To our members and partners, thank you for your time, energy, and vision for the future of both our Chamber and our city. Your industriousness, resilience, and commitment to excellence continue to drive economic growth and innovation across San Jose. Quite simply, without our members, the Chamber could not do the work that it does. Your engagement, investment, and trust power our advocacy, influence, and impact on behalf of the business community. It has been a privilege to serve as Board Chair during this important period of growth and renewal.

Finally, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Chamber’s team: Kat, Katie, Nicole, Aileen, and Lina. Their professionalism, dedication, and tireless behind-the-scenes work make everything we do possible. The Chamber’s impact is a direct reflection of their commitment to our members and our mission, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.

We wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year. May 2026 bring continued growth, good health, and lasting success.

Warm regards,

Rob Lindo

2026 Chair, Board of Directors
