* Shivendu Shivendu had an article published in The Asian Age earlier this month titled "Fake News, the DNE of Tech Firms: The Big Fight Against Fake News." He related the legend that ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses the Great once detailed an account of a great battle victory, which, by all accounts, proved to be less than true. * Eileen Rodriguez, regional director of the Florida Small Business Development Center, was the recipient of a 2018 Pathways Award for her contributions to the betterment of Latinos in the region. She was presented with the USF Latin Community Advisory Committee award at the Hispanic Heritage Kick-Off Luncheon earlier this month. To read more, click here.
* Russell Clayton, instructor with the Marketing Department, was interviewed recently by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (equivalent to NPR). In the introduction and signoff, for the piece on career changes, the interviewer mentions the Muma College of Business.
* The Florida Small Business Development Center at USF blog was named among the top 10 small business inspiration blogs by Fieldboom recently, landing in the No. 6 position. The blog is overseen by Stacey Dadd, the marketing and communications officer with the center.
* Luke Richardson, an instructor with the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, has co-authored an article that has been accepted for publication in Tax Notes, a top-tier journal.
* Dahlia Robinson, an associate professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, has co-authored an article that has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, an interdisciplinary journal that publishes empirical articles of interest to scholars in a diverse range of law and law-related fields, ranging from civil justice to political science to securities regulation. 
 
 
ALUMNI NOTES
 
* Marion Yongue ('91, Accounting) was promoted to associate vice president of development at USF. He has worked at USF since 2011 and previously served as assistant vice president of development.
* Chris Cutchens ('01, MAcc) has been named chief operating and financial officer of DirectView Holdings, a company focused on ownership and management of leading video and security technology companies. He brings more than 20 years of financial management, accounting information and administrative experience to the company.
* Evan Burroughs ('13, Finance) is now a senior consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C. and is beginning law school at American University's Washington College of Law. The former 25 Under 25 honoree began his career with Northrop Grumman Corporation and later worked as a senior operations analyst with U.S. Special Operations Command and Lanmark Technology.
* Steve Scales ('82, Marketing) was promoted to senior vice president of National Sales for BakeMark, a leading manufacturer and distributor of bakery ingredients, products and supplies. Scales has spent over 30 years in the food industry and will oversee the supply chain and procurement functions within the company.
* Tatiana Garcia ('15, Management, Marketing) has been promoted to senior product manager at Tech Data. She has been with the company since 2015, beginning her career as an AIS software intern. She has worked as a project specialist and a product manager for the Cisco Solutions Group.
* Diana Kanzler Misle ('14, International Business and '15, MS in Marketing) has joined the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business as a marketing and communications associate. She previously was a marketing operations coordinator at Revcontent. She previously worked with several USF units responsible for international student recruitment, including USF International Admissions, USF INTO, and USF Global Shared Services.

* Oct. 15-21, Homecoming for the USF Bulls. The week's events include the Homecoming Ball, a comedy show and an alumni party. The Running of the Bulls Homecoming Parade through campus takes place on Oct. 19. The Muma College of Business will continue the tradition of holding a homecoming celebration that day in the atrium and breezeway, serving food and refreshments before staging a parade-watch party. * Oct. 17, 6:30-9:30 p.m., the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program Lecture Series will take place in the Yuengling Center (formerly the USF Sun Dome). The annual event this year features Dan Reed, head of Facebook's Global Sports Partnerships; Rick Welts, president and COO of the NBA's Golden State Warriors, world champions for three of the past four years; and Jay Parry, former COO of the Women's National Basketball Association at a time when the league experienced incredible growth. * Oct. 23, 4-6 p.m. Corporate Connections at the Muma College of Business provides an opportunity for graduate students to network with national and local recruiters. The event takes place in the atrium.
* Nov. 6-9, the Florida Small Business Development Center is sponsoring the 42nd annual Basic Economic Development Course. Participants who successfully complete the accredited program are eligible to sit for the Certified Economic Developer examination. The event takes place at the USF Embassy Suites, 3705 Spectrum Blvd., on the USF Tampa campus.
* Nov. 14, 8:30-10 a.m., the Muma College of Business's Conversation with a CEO featuring Don Fox, CEO of Firehouse Subs, will take place at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning Simulation, 124 S. Franklin St., in downtown Tampa. To register, click here.

* Feb. 6-7, the inaugural Florida Supply Chain Summit, coordinated by the USF Center for Supply Chain Management & Sustainability, will be held at the Disney Contemporary Resort in Orlando.
