You told us mental health matters.
Here’s how you can help.

When we asked what matters most to you, mental health was one of the priorities our donors told us they wanted our Foundation to support.

Today, we have a meaningful opportunity to act on that priority. The Parksville Treatment Centre is getting ready to open this fall, but we need your help in raising $1.2M to complete this vital project. The new 19 bed abstinence-based treatment centre will help fill a critical gap in publicly funded addiction care for people from across Vancouver Island.

Addiction is not something happening on the fringes of our society. It is affecting families, friends, neighbours and colleagues throughout our region. Amanda is one of those people - a resident right here in our region who is now on the other side of addiction and building a future helping others.

If you haven’t seen her story, I encourage you to watch it. It is an incredible story of hope, resilience and what can happen when the right treatment and support are there at the right time.

We are hearing from many families in our community who have been impacted by addiction. These heartfelt stories are powerful reminders of the difference we can make by bringing this treatment centre to our region.

This Centre is opening soon. It will change lives. It will strengthen families. And it will build a healthier future for our region. But we need your support to make it happen.

Please join us and make a gift today.

The 50/50 has already grown to more than $50,000 and continues to climb, giving one lucky winner the chance to take home half of the final jackpot. It is also your last chance to purchase prize lottery tickets for our Staycation experience featuring a whale watching adventure for two and a stay at the Coast Bastion Hotel.

More importantly, every ticket purchased helps support better healthcare for people across Central Vancouver Island.

The Fairwinds and Nanoose Bay community came together in an incredible way at the second annual Fairwinds en Blanc, raising more than $94,400 to help establish a new high-intensity cardiac rehabilitation program at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

A heartfelt thank you to Julie Hazelwood and the entire team at Fairwinds for creating such a special evening and bringing people together in support of local healthcare. We are also incredibly grateful to the event sponsors, guests, silent auction supporters and everyone who chose to give.

Funds raised will help purchase essential equipment for the new program, including an Exercise Stress Test System, 12-Lead ECG Machine, Central Cardiac Monitoring Station, vital-sign monitors, and rehabilitation treadmills or exercise bikes.

Together, this equipment will provide an important foundation for a program designed to help cardiac patients safely regain strength, improve their heart health and reduce their risk of another cardiac event.

Thank you to Fairwinds and to every person who helped make this possible. Your generosity is helping create new opportunities for cardiac rehabilitation and strengthening healthcare for patients across Central Vancouver Island.

Approximately 150 golfers, sponsors, volunteers and supporters came together at Fairwinds Golf Course for the 10th Annual Pat Docherty Memorial Golf Tournament, continuing a meaningful tradition in support of healthcare across our community.

What began as a golf day among friends has grown into an event that honours Pat’s memory while making a lasting difference for patients and care teams. Funds raised through this year’s tournament will support Critical Care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, including the Intensive Care Unit and High Acuity Unit.

While the final total is still being calculated, the generosity behind this year’s event was clear. Thank you to the organizers - Don, Wes, and Ed, sponsors, golfers and guests who helped make the day possible.

Since 2017, the tournament has raised more than $670,000 for organizations, including $573,725 donated to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation.

We are incredibly grateful for this continued legacy of community, generosity and care.
