Young trailblazers share their inspiring stories and music at
Cross-Atlantic Quarantine Session

Our next Cross-Atlantic Quarantine Session welcomes Zarifa Adiba  broadcasting live from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The session will air on Monday, June 22 at 2pm Eastern Time.

Doing things "not for girls" and therefore often considered a rebel in Kabul, Zarifa's journey from Afghanistan to studying in Kyrgyzstan has been has been met with obstacles and empowerment. Zarifa made her debut on the international stage when she conducted the first all-female orchestra of Afghanistan at the closing ceremony of the World Economic Forum in 2017. Join us on Monday as the 21-year-old activist, musician, composer, violist and TEDx speaker shares her compelling story and how she's helping other girls and women realize their self-worth.
The session will be moderated by Kalena Bovell, an American conductor who Channel 3 News has called "one of the brightest star in the world of classical music." She is currently Assistant Conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and previously of the St. Louis Symphony. She has ties in Connecticut as a graduate of The Hartt School, and as previous orchestra director at the Loomis Chaffee School.
