For the past three years, the Brevoort Cornerstone Community Center has had a Thanksgiving dinner that unites its after school youth program with the seniors' program. Both occupy the Center at the Brevoort Houses of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Each year, youth select the senior who will be their table mate at the "Adopt a Grandparent" dinner with 150 youth and seniors participating this year.
"My intention is to build a bridge between the two programs," said Cornerstone Director Frances Platt , who also cooked two turkeys and a ham for the feast. Young and old were building lasting relationships for the future.
