Progress On The Future of Red Brick Schoolhouse and Community Center

Following months of discussions with Design Funktion Studio regarding how to best utilize these buildings to meet present and future space needs of the Town, the Board voted unanimously on November 15, 2017 to proceed with the option offered by the consultant to demolish both the Community Center and the entire Red Brick Schoolhouse and to build a new multi-purpose building.

It had been the intent of the Board to conduct a single question referendum as part of the spring 2018 election in April seeking elector approval or rejection of the proposed plan, However, the Board recently learned that authorization to dispose of town buildings cannot be given via a referendum. Only approval of the expenditure of the new building can be granted by a referendum. Authorization for destruction of the existing Community Center and Red Brick Schoolhouse must be granted by a majority of electors in attendance at either the Town's annual elector meeting (also in April) or a specially convened elector meeting.

Please watch for additional details as the Board continues to work with the consultant on developing a building plan, a proposed payment plan and a method enabling electors to become informed and make a "yes" or "no" decision, hopefully within the next few months.
2018 Spring Town Board Elections

Two Supervisor positions will be on the ballot for the April 3 elections:

Town Board Supervisor seat #1:
  • Ted Ritter is seeking re-election.
  • Jack Bourgeois is challenging Ritter.

Town Board Supervisor seat #2:
  • John Vojta is not seeking re-election.
  • Tim Clark and Brian Cooper have declared candidacy for this position.

The Town Board encourages all electors to give careful consideration of these candidates and to vote on April 3rd.

The remaining two Supervisor seats, the Chairman position and the Clerk and Treasurer positions will be up for re-election in the spring of 2019.

2017 was an eventful and exciting year at the Town's golf course. Professional Margo Rogers-Anderson and Superintendent Aaron Becker have lots of good news to talk about in their "2017 Year in Review" reports. Read more at:
