An update from DC Chamber of Commerce on COVID-19
The  DC Chamber of Commerce  is passing along a communication from the Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District
Quarantine Can-Do's Continued
We're back with your weekly dose of what you  CAN  do in Capitol Riverfront while practicing social distancing.
  • Stock up on your favorite gift cards - For the health nuts and foodies, the sports fans or your next date night! There are plenty of options to consider in this Ultimate Gift Card Guide. Feel even better about your purchase when you get gift cards from El Bebe and Circa, which are donating 100% of proceeds to their employees, or give to the Shilling Canning Company employee relief fund.
  • Sweat out the stress - Although District parks are closed due to the Mayor's directive, neighborhood gyms and fitness studios are committed to helping the community stay active and are offering online workout classes that their members can do at home. BOOMBOX Boxing Club features video workout classes via their Instagram page; Barre3 is offering a 15-day free trial to access online workouts which are already available to members; and VIDA Fitness offers free online classes to both non-members and members. The 16-mile Anacostia Riverwalk Trail will remain open for walking, running, or biking for those looking for fresh air on their next telework break. Remember to maintain proper social distancing when venturing outside.
  • Tell us something good - The BID wants to hear about the random acts of kindness that you're doing for others or that you've seen around the neighborhood. Share these gestures of goodwill with us via info@capitolriverfront.org, and we'll continue the kindness by featuring your story in an upcoming newsletter.
Don't forget to check out  this resources page  for more on what's happening in the neighborhood.
Take Our Word for It: Book & Movie Picks
While the CapRiv BID team spends most of our days marketing and branding the neighborhood, providing street cleaning services and park operations, hosting fun events in the park, attracting new businesses, and advocating for better transportation; we do take a bit of time for ourselves to enjoy the finer things in life. As you shelter in place during these uncertain times, we'll be serving up suggestions for more entertainment to pass the time in this  "Take Our Word for It" Series . No, we don't expect you to catch up on Capitol Riverfront annual reports. However, we DO hope you'll indulge us a bit and check out our book and movie picks to help pass the time.

Ward 6 Front Porch Happy Hour is Back
Enjoy another porch, patio, or balcony Happy Hour with your neighbors tomorrow, March 27th.  Councilmember Charles Allen is inviting Ward 6 residents to continue the spring celebration by joining your neighbors at 5:00 pm - from a safe distance of course - for a drink, some fellowship, and maybe even some music! As you're hanging out together (but apart), post your photos and use #W6HH.

Explore, Connect & Thrive with a Variety of Riverfront Specials!
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
