A indulgent vacation doesn't always mean a week long summer trip. It can be a relaxing, luxurious weekend escape from city life.

It happened to me while visiting Cambria, CA. and strolling past The Olallieberry Inn.

I stopped to admire the giant Sequoia Redwood in front of this charming property when I was greeted by a friendly man, broom in hand, sweeping the front steps.

We started up a conversation when I admitted to admiring the vibe of this lovely home. I soon learned the home was actually an inn full of rich history.

Nelson began to tell the story of the Inn and before I knew it, he graciously gave me a tour of the entire property. What a treat!!

I immediately felt the pride of ownership Nelson and Maureen bestow on their Olallieberry Inn .

From the guitar--available for guests to play-- in the Music room, hand-chosen fine art adorning the walls, to the stained glass doors, every inch of this inn oozes charm.

I stepped back in time when Nelson shared they play guests favorite albums on the record player on the back porch, nightly.

Local activities in Cambria range from specialty shops, fine dining, noted museums, to abundant places to hike. Hearst Castle is only minutes away along with Moonstone Beach, Elephant Seals, Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, Cambria Nursery (one of my favorites!) and a wealth of Wineries.

I learned the Inn style is known as "Greek Revival" and boasts being one of the oldest buildings in town, it's set on the banks of the Santa Rosa Creek.

I also learned Nelson and his wife Maureen, both gave up established careers to pursue their dream of becoming Innkeepers!

Gourmet breakfasts are essential to the Olallieberry Inn experience and prepared by their chef on premises. Imagine the Orange Cranberry Souffle drizzled with Orange syrup and accompanied by delicious home fries.

The Inn is also host to culinary classes throughout the year--you know my ears perked up hearing this!

Hor D'oeuvres and wines from local wineries like Justin Winery are served in the evenings.

Those of you living outside of California should note there is plenty to keep you busy for longer than a weekend too. The California Central Coast is abundant with places of interest and the beach is only a 15 minute drive from Cambria.
