Like much high-priced electronic equipment, MRI and X-ray can be vulnerable to static electricity.
Why it matters
Static electricity can lead to equipment malfunction. Since MRIs or X-rays play such a pivotal role in patient diagnosis, it can greatly impact patient care.
Then consider the shock you get from walking across a carpet and opening a door. That’s about 5,000 volts. Now imagine trying to position a patient and being shocked at that voltage. Or worse, being the patient with some sort of an injury and then being shocked.
Going deeper
