Supporters,
YOUR generosity and quick response has enabled us to finalize the process of closing on the house. Thank you for your response to our last newsletter.
A few weeks ago I was able to transfer the first 50% to start the process, but now with the last 50% they can finish the process. The house will then belong to Maisha Girls Safe House [NGO].
The next step on this incredible journey is to raise money for the things needed before the girls can move in. For example these are expenses Maisha knows it will incur:
- more beds w/mattresses & bedding to eliminate 2 girls in a bed.
- individual baby beds, mattresses & bedding.
- closing in the balcony for security reasons.
- at least 1 more shower stall in the master bathroom.
- painting inside & outside.
- construct an office/s for the therapist & counselor.
- 2 new couches for the living room.
- replace an antiquated solar power system.
- tables & benches for the dining room area.
- storage bins.
- the cost of the actual moving.
Once Maisha gets full access to the house they will be able to get a more complete list with costs for each item. They plan to do a walk through with a contractor to get his estimates and what might need to be fixed before the move.
Good news is that we have already received a donation for $2000 for a much needed washer and dryer.
If you find it in your heart and pocketbook, please give what you are able. I will send out the more detailed list when we get it, but we will need to move quickly so as to not delay the move to the bigger house.
