Dear Fellow Emeritus Diplomate:

I am reaching out to you following several responses ACVS received to the recent email to Emeritus Diplomates about fees and dues.

To those who shared your concerns with us, thank you. We heard you. Be assured that ACVS is not removing your ACVS credentials. You will always hold Emeritus Diplomate status. You earned it and have given so much to the profession and the College.

What we may not have communicated clearly is that with the separation of certification functions and membership activities that takes effect on January 1, 2027, Diplomates will have a certification fee and separate voluntary dues that provide additional benefits and activities.

As an Emeritus Diplomate, you will not be charged the certification fee. Your decision to pay the voluntary reduced dues would have no impact on your Emeritus Diplomate status.

After careful consideration of ACVS's messaging and responses from and engagement with Emeritus Diplomates, the Executive Committee has decided to not implement Emeritus Diplomate dues for 2027. You will continue to receive the benefits you receive now.

Pausing for 2027 gives the Board of Regents time to include Emeritus Diplomates in the process to consider what a future Emeritus Diplomate benefits structure might look like.

We are navigating these governance changes with only the best intentions for the College. I apologize for the lack of clarity in our earlier communication.

I thank you for your many contributions and dedication to ACVS. The College would not be the highly respected organization that it is today. We look forward to your being a part of the College for many years to come.

Thank you,

Bryden J. Stanley, BVMS, MS, MANZCVS
