Graduating from the ENSCI (Paris) in 1995, Toan Nguyen pursued his training in Barcelona with Alberto Lievore, moving to Milan in 1996, where not long after he took over as head of Antonio Citterio’s design department, with whom, for nearly ten years he was to sign lines for, among others, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flos, Iittala, Kartell, Technogym, and Vitra. In 2009 he founded his own studio in Milan, subsequently embarking on a series of successful collaborations with several major brands in high-quality industry and fine craftmanship in Europe, North America, and Asia, on furniture, lighting, ceramics, as well as on technological products.
For Toan Nguyen design is a discipline intimately bound up with the object, in the traditional sense of the term. Priority is given to physical relationships with users—to them sitting, washing, lighting, etc. Displaying an immediate sense for meaningful utilization, precedence is accorded to intelligible forms and optimized manufacturing processes, without, however, ever neglecting the sensuality of materials and the emotional impact of the object.
Toan Nguyen’s creative individuality has been acknowledged by flagship contemporary design brands such as Vibia, Dedon, Laufen, Fendi Casa, Coalesse, Teknion, Studio TK, Viccarbe, Walter Knoll, Lema, Busnelli, RH, among others, a substantial number of whose creations have been awarded prestigious international prizes.
Toan Nguyen is the designer of the Algorithm pendant lamp collection . This collection fuses beauty and geometry within a lighting system filled with magic.
Vibia offers pendants and chandeliers where the user can choose between predefined references or create a space specific version of the product in order to adapt perfectly to the space in question.
The Algorithm collection is composed of pressed glass encompassed spheres of LED light suspended at different heights and attached to the ceiling via a floating tubular structure.

The works of the designer Werner Aisslinger born 1964 cover the spectrum of experimental, artistic approaches, including industrial design and architecture. He delights in making use of the latest technologies and has helped introduce new materials and techniques to the world of product design like in his unique gel furniture with the collection "soft cell“ and the chaise „soft“ for zanotta in 2000. The „Juli chair (cappellini)“ was the first item of furniture to use a new type of foam called „polyurethane integral foam“ and became the first German chair design to be selected as a permanent exhibit at the MoMA in New York since 1964. In the process he has created striking designs and received awards from all over the world — from Milan’s Compasso d’Oro to the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Red Dot Award or FX Award in the UK. Werner Aisslinger´s „loftcube“–project became one of the most discussed modular and transportable housing projects within the last years.
His work is exhibited in the permanent collections of international museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the French Fonds National d´Art Contemporain in Paris, the Museum Neue Sammlung in Munich, and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil, Germany.
Recent work includes a number of furniture design projects for Vitra, Foscarini, and Moroso, product designs for Haier and Canon as well as the 25hours Hotels (Berlin, 2014, Zürich 2017 and Cologne 2018). In 2013 Werner Aisslinger opened his first soloshow called „Home of the future“ in the Berlin based Museum „Haus am Waldsee“. In 2014 he was awarded the prestigious AW Designer of the Year Award in Cologne. In 2017 he opened his exhibition „House of wonders “ in the Museum Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
Werner Aisslinger lives and works in Berlin.

Human-Centric Smart Street Lighting System
2022 Edison Gold Award Winner in the Critical Human Infrastructure Category
While driving, many people experience eye strain and discomfort caused by excessive roadway glare during wet conditions. The patented AI smart lighting system improves traffic safety by dynamically changing luminaire’s photometric configuration, both illuminance and luminance, by adapting to the road condition so that glare reflected by wet surface of road is decreased.
Better Driving Safety
- Reduces glare reflected by the wet surface of road
- Improves eye comfort for drivers when driving in adverse conditions
- Improves traffic and road safety
Utilizing AI technology, LEOTEK’s Human-Centric Smart Lighting System is designed to detect and evaluate the reflective state of the road surface on rainy days to automatically adjust a luminaire’s photometric configuration so glare reflected by the wet roadway surface is greatly reduced. The resulting configuration achieves optimal lighting performance, provides more visual comfort for drivers, and improves traffic safety within cities during adverse weather conditions, such as rain and fog.
