June 19th, or Juneteenth, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States of America in 1865. You can participate and celebrate at one of these community events.
The Phoenix Public Library will be sponsoring its annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 6th, with food, fun and entertainment.
From June 18th-19th, head out to Voices of Victory & Juneteenth Celebration in University Park for a two-day event featuring uplifting gospel music, delicious food trucks, community, culture and more!
On June 19th, you can attend celebrations at Fox Pointe in Lansing, A.F. Hill Park in Lockport, Village Hall in Matteson and Firemen's Park in Monee.
There is also the Juneteenth Jubilee at Sand Ridge Nature Center and the Juneteenth Celebrations at Veterans Memorial Park in South Holland and John D Rita Recreation Center in Blue Island, all on June 20th.
