More Patients Than Ever... Here's Why
A recent report from the Texas Medical Association shows Texas continues to lead the nation in uninsured residents. In 2018, a little more than 5 million Texans, or 17.7% of the population, lacked health insurance. That’s up slightly from 2017, when 4.8 million (17.3%) Texans were uninsured.

In fact, Smith County ranks in the top 50 uninsured counties in East Texas, with 19.8% or over 36,000 people uninsured.

This means the need for Bethesda's services continue to grow. Here's a breakdown of the impact of Bethesda:

  • 19,000 patient visits in 2018
  • Serving patients from over 100 Texas cities, from Tyler to Wills Point.
  • Three full-time providers and several part-time providers
  • Two full-time dentists, several part-time dentists
  • Over 300 active volunteers
  • $2 Million in medication assistance
  • 20-30 gospel presentations each week
  • $0 state or federal funding received
